    Another cardboard "draft"

Hehehe, just thinking that it's a scratchbuilder's dream when they have kids that eat the cereal. I have four of them and man, they give me plenty of material to scratchbuild from. I especially like it when those CD's come included in the cereal. All for $3.98 the kids get a CD, cereal, and I...

    Burchell Industries

I have a suggestion Robin, I seem to remember a negotiation between the Iron Ridge and the MAT when it comes to Travis Recreational & Construction Vehicles. I think this building would make an awesome expansion of the cabinet company that brings in woods, glass, accessories, stains, and...

    Telephone pole

Luis, I too have used those round wooden toothpicks for N scale poles, along with a small cut strip of flat wooden toothpicks for the cross pieces. Insulators were created from the tips of sprue I had left over from different model kits, and the transformers were also cut down from round...

    Burchell Industries

Hehehe, how much did I pay for it? I LIKE IT I LIKE IT!!!!!! Another outstanding structure my friend....as usual. Did I mention that I LIKE IT????!!!!??? Here at Burchell Industries, we too do not have a clue what we produce or ship out, but I'm sure someone around here might have the answers.

    Fish Cannery

Robin, I suggest the 25th member of NARA...after all his namesake is the province that the prototype structure sits...HAHAHAHA...just joking.

    Troubles with stairs

David, Through photos of the ship I'm basing this project on, it doesn't look like these stairs are 45 degrees. But if you could track down the article or show what you are describing, I'm sure it will be of use for my next scratchbuild project...finally, the massive size of the GMD Plant...

    Fish Cannery

As usual Robin, another AWESOME structure!! As usual you take the simplest materials and produce something that few of us could even come close to matching. Acually I do have a question for you, what do you use for windows on your models? You are an icon and an inspiration to scratchbuilders...

    Troubles with stairs

Sounds easier just to install ladders between decks...lol. Well wish me luck, I'm gonna attempt some steel (styrene) steps.

    Troubles with stairs

Vic, Hehehe, guess it would help if I told you I model in N scale. Like I said, I'd rather not buy anything commercial if I can build it. Thanks for the info though, if all else fails, I'm sure I can order them in N instead of HO

    Troubles with stairs

I'm trying to build flights of stairs between decks on my container ship but I'm not sure what the easiest or the best way is to do it. Does anyone know where to point me to help or give me suggestions. I'd rather scratchbuild them then buy them commercial. Thanks

    Another Removable Eoad

Hehe, I too have never ever seen an Eoad and I'm from Canada, and I'm quite sure if there is such a thing, you would find it here, nor do I even know what one is, but I do know a good looking piece of rolling stock when I see it, and damn that is FINE. That is probably the best looking pile of...

    Plans for custom built structures

That would be an awesome idea. Even if you only printed them out, glued them on cardstock and used them for mock-ups until the intended structure is finished, it's a great idea. I'm looking to hear more on this thread, I model N scale, and minus a couple of paper models, there is really nothing...

    Scratchbuilding help

Thank you for your help guys. I think I have a bottle of puzzle sealer in the spray can somewhere, and I will try it out on a scrap piece and let you all know how it turned out.

    Scratchbuilding help

As you know I'm working on a container ship, and I'm using cardstock as the main building material...I have come across a problem, how do I paint cardstock so that it doesn't look like cardstock? I have the basic structure done, but have run into a dilemna and don't want to add paint until I...

    Container Ship project

My ship measures close to about 300 N scale feet long, so in HO scale that would measure 42 inches long to be the same scale size. I don't think I model quite the right scale (1/16" = 1 N scale foot), but my model measures 20 1/2". Anyways that's 3 1/2 feet in HO scale

    Container Ship project

I cut and shaped a piece of 2x4 for the hull, and the basic superstructure is built from your favorite material...CARDBOARD. This is just the rough shape, styrene will cover the cardboard. The containers are printed out on my printer and glued together as a box. I'm going to be using railings...

    Scratchbuilding a container ship

No idea how to do it. The last time I saved my photos on my tripod site and linked the images to here, they came out as X's. I think you need to have a payed for per month or year web server in order to save pics and show them here

    Scratchbuilding a container ship

Hey all, A while back I posted a thread wanting to find companies that made N scale ships, preferably container ships. These were way out of my price league since they are so expensive and I would have to order them direct. So my only alternative was to begin the scratchbuilding process...

    Crazy Ed's Emporium

I'm impressed Brian. Maybe it might have something to do with the fact that it's named after me, or the fact that it looks like the start of a great structure (after all it IS named after me). I can't wait to see the finished photos. And thanks for the honour (hold on a sec, I know there's a...
