    Smaller Scale Conversion??

Thanks for the picture Ron :) I don't doubt for a minute that items were sold as OOO, particualrly as I have seen Lone Star labelled as such, but I'm pretty sure for "purists" ;) it has always been N. I maybe mistaken here but I seem to recall from my childhood a set of small trains my...

    Smaller Scale Conversion??

Ron, For the British it is also called N, but is indeed 1/144. I have only ever seen 000 applied to Lone Star trains. Sir Prize, I believe 1/144 was chosen as it is half 1/72, the aircraft kit scale. British stock was historically a bigger scale because the motors wouldn't fit into a...

    Life-Like Chassis

There's a fellow selling some Life-Like bodies on ebay uk, and I was wondering if there was any point in bidding for them. I'm surmising he has taken the chassis parts to repower UK outline diesels and so is selling the shells. Can replacement chassis be bought from Life-Like? If so it may be...

    My freelanced railroad

Very nice, brilliant idea to have a car with a replaced panel and hence no logo..very realistic :) Round here cars in freight trains have almost as many paint / logo variations as the number of cars themselves.

    @*?!^%& Microtrains couplers

David (Canada), David (Virginia) I noticed the pin size difference, but when using the M-T trucks with the M-T pins the trucks flop about a bit and the washer is too thick to be any use here. I think a thinner washer would be more useful, anyway I have found another solution..also fixes the...

    @*?!^%& Microtrains couplers

One of these was a premade truck/coupler set ;) but it didn't sit well under the atlas 40', and by the time I had sorted this out, it rolled off the table and the coupler snapped :( hence I had to disassemble the ready made one and glue it. Am going to order some replacements today

    Atlas delivering to the UK.

Thanks Errol, I wasn't so much worried that it hadn't arrived..but infact had arrived, been left outside, and one of my "helpful" neighbours had removed it. Will just have to wait and see, could just have been sent surface mail in which case it may be here in time for Xmas ;) Once sent a...

    Radius again.

Hi John, actually mine is on the small side as it's only 2 bedroom..a side effect of having to live in the most expensive place for houses in the UK, outside London :( Still at least it means I can work and have money for trains ;) (even if I lack space to use them ;) ) Simon

    Radius again.

ahy good point :D I'm using Woodland scenics road bed..or will when it arrives I have it on back order with the stockist..suddenly the vast expanse I seemed to have gain by going "N" seems to be shrinking ;) Why do I have to live in a shoe box ??? A most railroad unfriendly house :(

    Radius again.

Thanks David, so in fact my 12" radius curves if laid in a 180 degree arc would take up 24" + the width of the track (9mm or approx 3/8") . Good to know this before I start squeezing my flexitrack onto the back of an old door :) I was planning to start building the base of my new...

    TERRIBLE British Rail Service

Hi Mike, Small world I live only a few minutes drive from Soham :) On a more general note: I used to commute daily to London from just outside Peterborough..and both the GNER and WAGN Services while relatively timely (allowing 15mins delay as given ;) ) were always packed ..I wish...

    Radius again.

How very timely:) I was going to post a question about radus measurements..but that clears it up for me..the radius is measured via the outside rail :) thanks (even if you didn't know you were helping ;)) Simon
