Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part III

Jeffrey - Glad you're feeling up to posting. Doug - sorry you're feeling poorly today. Chief - watch the eggnog! More calories than your breakfast sandwich - I think the mustard and coffee was the healthiest thing on your menu! (Dennis, am I right, or am I right?) Roy - we need more...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part III

Sorry, Doug, I cracked up when I read that!. Be sure, they will say something like that when you least expect it! I've heard some very interesting things from young children at church, much to their parents' consternation! "A Christmas Story" is my eldest daughter's and my favorite...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part III

Tom, thanks for the pics of the roundhouse and turntable. Do you know if there are plans to restore them or the steam engine? Got a really good rain last night and this morning. A bit warmer this afternoon now that the sun is coming up. Hope everyone is having a good Monday!

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part III

Good afternoon, all! Cold and damp in central Alabama today. U of Alabama lost to Auburn for 6th straight year last night - cause for rejoicing with part of our household (son and younger daughter) and grief for the rest (my wife, eldest daughter, and yours truly). Didn't have high...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part III

Doug, my wife is funny - she doesn't really like regular trains but for some reason she does like trolleys. That, plus the Dept. 56 buildings give me some leverage on the Christmas layout. Next year the eldest daughter gets married, then my son graduates from college in two more...

Good for her! My youngest is also a sophomore (not quite a 4.0, but A-B honor roll) and one of the athletic trainers for the high school. She hopes to get into sports medicine. It struck me how similar they look. Not identical by any stretch, but similar size and hair anyway.

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part III

Good afternoon, all! Renovo - the young lady to the right in the red sweat pants looks remarkably like my younger daughter. When I first saw the picture I did a double-take! BTW, I hope you have some help eating all those cookies! Frank - saw the video. Layout's looking good! I've about...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part II

Hi all, it's COLD in central Alabama this AM. Windy, too! Still, the wife, eldest daughter and FIL got up at 3:00 AM to fight the crowds shopping. Not me! I do most of my shopping on-line. Debating whether or not to put up Christmas layout this year. Most of family will be gone to...

Happy Thanksgiving! Hope everyone is having a good day today. Sorry to hear about Jeffrey and CNWMan, prayers for their improved physical health. We're heading to my sister-in-law's house for dinner shortly. Everyone be safe!

Tom, love the Baldwin Sharks! I had a pair (Model Power, I think) back in the 70's in my HO days, painted for the Pennsy. I like the demo paint scheme - good choice!

Off to the gas wars! Remember those days? If I don't get the chance later, I want to wish everyone a safe, happy and blessed Thanksgiving!

Dennis, I'm so sorry to hear of the death of that camera man. I'll be praying for his wife and family. Also remembering your Mom today. Spent a couple of hours with my Mom today so Dad could go to the dentist. Her Alzheimers is getting progressively worse and she is in a definite decline -...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part II

Good morning from sunny central Alabama. It's a very nice day today, temps should get into the upper 70s. Like Chief, we're supposed to get rain for Thanksgiving, but considering the drought, I don't mind a bit! Chuck, glad your wife continues to do well. Dennis, keep us posted on your Mom...

Afternoon, all! Chief, thanks for tip on the Marx - I'll check it out. Just won a couple of Lionel shorty postwar gondolas on the 'bay. Getting excited about putting up the Christmas layout the week of Thanksgiving. Alabama lost to Mississippi State. Bama's just been too inconsistent...

Afternoon, all and welcome to Dennis, Jim and John B. - nice to see you all! Very nice day here, although a bit overcast. Had a light frost this AM but it warmed up quickly. Leaves are falling everywhere! Chief, glad you weathered your reaction okay. Probably just withdrawal from no grits...
