Looking for info on new Plug & Play engines...

P2K's don't have them pre-installed, but they are *definitely* plug and play. Just took off a shell the other night, took out the old board, plugged in a new decoder (Digitrax DH163LO to be precise), put it on the programming track, and it's good to go (now I just have to finish painting the...

    Chicagoland: A Retrospective

I have thusly returned from Chicagoland, and present to you a set of pictures from the same. This is all the pics I took during the week, so I've taken the liberty of marking the pics of interest to members here with either "TRAINS" (for prototype) and "LAYOUT" (for pics of the Museum of...

It's Friday the 13th, weekend modeling projects!!!

I hope to complete the mainline through Alamogordo (which shouldn't take long, I just have about two feet left on the third of three tracks); and then I want to create another 53' reefer for the company I work for (and who will eventually have a poultry plant on my layout); and I'm hoping to...

    HO scale furniture

I picked up a pool table from Evergreen Hill Design when I was last in Calgary. It looks like they don't carry all furniture, but they do have some other interesting items, like a toilet, chair, etc. The link you found seems to be a better diversity of products for your needs.

    Industrial switching

This seems appropriate here; took the pic while out railfanning tonight west of the city. There's a small spur here, with room for maximum two cars. Directly above this car is a crane which can load/unload cargo from railcars to trailers (I took a pic of the crane too if anyone's interested)...

    Chicago

Well, I just booked a business trip for next week (August 16th-20th) to Chicago. Ahhh yes the Windy City. Just wondering if there's any can't miss train places???? I.e., stores, layouts, viewpoints, et al. Thanks for any info. (( I will have a car ))

    The Plan of the day

You could also use said cart for storage of course, or as a tool cart in the meantime.

    The Plan of the day

Wow a seven foot gap. I'm thinking maybe a 3.5 foot long cart with wheels that rolls and locks into place, with a top that flips over to connect to the other side (thus making the seven foot distance).

    Jestine's Wholesale Lumber

Hey Rusty that does look really great !!!! What did you use for the lumber inside the shed ??? Did you just cut down some scale lumber and paint the ends ??? Inquiring minds want to know (as I have a lumber complex on my layout too (OF COURSE) ).

    Under the Benchwork

So I have my dedicated train space - 19'7" x 13'7". In the initial reno budget, we had included $150CDN for carpet underneath the benchwork to protect the hardwood from scuffing, scrapes, paint, et al ($0.56CDN per square foot, had the color already picked out). However, upon review, the...

And take great care with the surrounding area; the overspray is really messy (unlike paint, which is, you know, just paint after all).

    RCMP Question

Good point, Tony, and a valid one. Personally I haven't seen an RCMP officer for some time, as we have our own police force here in the city. But that is definitely only their dress uniform now, that much I know. (( in the 50's, though, I have no idea ))

    It's Monday, weekend accomplishments!

Well, the main floor is finally painted - I just have the kitchen cabinet doors to do - so my wife and I took yesterday off from house stuff, and I started on my integrated "workstation" (i.e., it's part of the new layout, complete with a tabletop staging yard that is covered up for doing...

    Tank Car Placards

That would be my understanding as well - the cars would have "CORN SYRUP" written on the side (at least the ones I've seen), but would NOT need a placard as it is not hazardous material. (( In fact, I have a list of all the placard numbers and corn syrup of course isn't in there ))

    Life is sweet when . . .

Actually, right now it is full of boxes from our move on Saturday. Very sad indeed, but they should be going in the next few days to their rightful place.
