    What exactly is a "Slug"?

There's a couple here in the CN yard that they use all the time. If you need any more pics, let me know and I can probably snap a couple for you during my lunch.

    CN & BC Rail

BTW, update - I see BCR locos quite frequently now through the CN mainline here in Edmonton. Usually once every couple of days (my commute home takes me along Walker Yard, and the parking lot for my office is right on the mainline).

    A "Big" layout ?

Huh. I consider myself to have a "medium" layout - 13.5 x 18.5. Takes up about 2/3 of half the basement (the other 1/3 is a "crew lounge" - actually a television watching area, but I've even got my wife calling it the crew lounge now).

    White letter decals....

Please do, Jesper. I am very curious myself.

    Putting signs on buildings?

I've personally found the fastest and best way for me is to print the sign out on label paper; adhere the label to some thin styrene; cut around the sign; then glue/cement that to the building. If I want to weather it a bit, drybrushing grey down it works good (although most signs are not all...

It's MONDAY 12-6-04, weekend modeling accomplishments!

Well we started painting the office on the weekend, so didn't get as much done as I'd like (which is all for the good anyways, as a lot of the office stuff is currently in the crew lounge). I did find some time to continue work on the Bull Gap / Rim Rock Canyons of New Mexico, however. Still...

    18x13 room need help

Huh, not much difference to the size of my train area (19'7" x 13'7" with a corner closet cut-out). I'm planning an around the walls with a center peninsula (which will also house a helix to get from the lower to upper levels).

    resin

As suggested, I use warm water and dishwashing detergent for the resin stuff I do myself. It works great, I don't think it's necessary to get the expensive (and toxic) stuff.

    CN & BC Rail

Ugh, sorry I missed that too cpr_boy. You must be hanging up around here too if you're on the Yellowhead quite a bit (by up I mean northside by the CN mainline of course).

It's MONDAY 11-1-04, weekend modeling accomplishments!

Lessee, spent most of the weekend in Alamogordo NM (on the layout, that is) - first stop on the journey towards Tucumcari NM for Southern Pacific trains (lower level). Got the base scenery down, highway, weathered the rails, did some ballasting, even got some grass down. AND then I...

    CN & BC Rail

Hhhmmmm . . . haven't seen anything trundle through Edmonton yet . . . . . (and I'm right on the mainline at work, I do see a lot of their trains).

    It's Too Small

Very kewl, Parker (and good to see another Edmontonian on board). My wife and I just moved to the northside, and the deal was that I got a significant part of the basement (turns out to be 13.5 x 19.5) for my layout. Course, now that the area is prepped with lighting and carpet, I need my...

    Fill in this space:

What about something like a pallet manufacturer/refurbisher. It would make a nice variation, I think. All you'd need is a storey and a half building, and then put a bunch of lumber and pallets around it. A couple of trucks, and you could also use trains to bring in and ship out pallets.

    Gauge Boxcar-World Tour '03

You know, if the boxcar did get lost, I have a Gauge tankcar that could flit about the world, at least for a while, until I get more of my layout done (i.e., like a year or so). I'll find some pics tonite and post 'em.

    Edmonton and Calgary.

-51C is a bit of a stretch. -10C to -20C would probably be closer to "normal" for January.

    Edmonton and Calgary.

No exclusive N-gauge stores here in Edmonton. No particular places to visit either (although one of the old train stations has been converted into a bar that's pretty fun). The CN mainline cuts through the city just above Yellowhead Trail, always tons of trains to see if you're interested in that.
