    photo's

It's a model, but I'm basing that on the camera height (above a person's eye level) not on the lack of realism. Great shot! George

To clip or not to clip.......Coupler pins

The function of the uncoupling arm ("hose") is to open the coupler by being attracted to the couplers right by a magnetic force from a magnet under the track. There are also uncoupling tools that use the uncoupling arm. One is a bent piece of wire that you use to grab the arm and pull it to...

    What do I need

To add to Mike's excellent advice; if you have a model railroad club nearby, pay them a visit, look at their layout and ask questions. Most model railroaders love to talk about the hobby. George

Reason 1. Because I like it. Reason 2. It really doesn't matter because of reason #1 And I'm both old and grumpy! :D :D George

    All greek to me?

Rail will expand when a room gets warmer and if there isn't a slight gap at each joint, the track will move out of shape. Set your gap the thickness of a business card, because if it's too thick, particularly on a curve, you're inviting derailment problems. On the same note, if you solder the...

    Need help levelling track

Just a wild guess - if you slipped ties under the track at the joint, you can have a bump if the ties aren't filed down to allow for the thickness of the rail joiners. George
