    CN Oxford Subdivision Take 2

Good point... I suppose I could designate the other longer spur in the yard as the "team track" and simply have that other spur as a switchback lead, shorten it up and allow some more room for scenery... Hrm...

    CN Oxford Subdivision Take 2

Instead of taking up more threadspace, here's the latest variant on the plan. I've tried to leave a lot more room for scenery, and still be able to have at least some industry represented on the layout. The Oxford Yard is reworked, borrowing a lot of ideas from the Adrisport & Codyville railway...

    Dogbones and Folded Dogbones

Thanks for the comments guys. I've been fooling around with more trackplan designs, and I am going to give the folded dogbone a serious kick, depending on what space I do end up negotiating... That having been said, I also have standard oval plans that I'm also fooling around with as well...

    Prototype or Freelanced?

Gavin, Love how your layout looks and feels... very nice, very professional... I'm considering a number of different options, and either NTrak or Bendtrack do have a certain amount of appeal. However, I'm also very much a beginner. I understand a great deal of the concepts, but have never...

    Prototype or Freelanced?

I'm probably offering up something very similar to Mike... Protolance CN Rail mostly, based on what I see around me here in Southern Ontario. I don't have any ports, and there is the occasional intermodal train that makes its way through, but the primary industries addressed by rail here seem to...

    Life Like GP-9 Chop Nose

Interesting on both the gear issue and the road numbers. I've double checked the CN ones against my Canadian Trackside Guide, and they're all kosher, right down to the paint scheme (I think). Since I'm pretty new at this, I've not yet learned about locomotive maintenance. As for the...

    Life Like GP-9 Chop Nose

Great Mike, thanks! I have a couple of these that I am eyeing, both through an online purchase, and the LHS. The LHS is actually offering them for $142 CDN, which is still about $15-30 more than another place I've found online... Hrm... decisions decisions...

    Free-Standing Backdrops

Since you're using insulation styrofoam as the base for your layout anyway, what about using foam-core poster board for your mid-layout backdrop divider?

    CN Oxford Subdivision Take 2

TR-Flyer, Thanks for the comments. Actually, your suggestion is an option I am considering. I'm also hoping to do the scenic divider up the middle to give the illusion of a larger, more interesting layout. I've since played around with the above trackplan a bit, borrowing parts from here...

    Atlas N-Scale Code 55 Track

The two locomotives I've acquired so far are both Kato... One Via Rail P42DC, and a CN SD40-2, they're reasonably new, so their flanges should be okay on Code 55. I have a few pieces of sectional Atlas Code 80, as well as a single Atlas remote turnout at the moment. Although I am most likely to...

    CN London Pics!

Where I live in London is immediately south of that wondrous "snow belt..." we get some of it, but fortunately, not all... Hopefully I'll get some more trainwatching in before Christmas, and can snap some more pics for your viewing pleasure.

    Atlas N-Scale Code 55 Track

Hey All, As I'm considering different layout options, one that is becoming more apparent is using Code 55 track... specifically, Atlas has a range of sectional track that has a lot more variety in terms of multi-radius turns and the like. Has anyone tried build a sectional layout using Atlas'...

    CN London Pics!

True... But Bellingham's climate is an awful lot milder than points further east. Vancouver is the warmest place in Canada... ;)

Looking for Modeler in the Calgary area

Calgary's my hometown, although I currently reside in London, Ontario... I'll be back that way come Christmas, visiting the parental units... :)

    CN London Pics!

That's not a lot of snow for here... It's a bit earlier than usual... but when it comes, we get gobs of it... However, when you're used to it, you're used to it... :)

    CN London Pics!

I'm kinda partial to the Zebra stripes on the GP9's... There's also an inbetween that has a picture of North America behind the CN Noodle.

Niiice... do you have a copy of your trackplan?

    Prototype or Freelanced?

Considering that the smallish London CN Yard not far from my own house is a little over a kilometer in length, which would work out to being about 20 feet long and a little over 12 inches wide... I really don't have the space to model the prototype... so I suppose I'm modelling after prototype...

    CN London Pics!

This one isn't nearly as spectacular, but it was taken immediately after the one with the GP/High Speed in it, looking east into the London Yard...

    CN London Pics!

In the town of Ingersoll, east of London, there is another Auto Plant. This one is General Motors, and is serviced by CP Rail rather than CN.
