Question for a Union Pacific Afficionado...

Being a Canadian, most of the trains I end up seeing are either Canadian Pacific, or Canadian National... the latter being the main line that runs near my house. I've seen the occasional Norfolk Southern locomotives on the line, but a few days ago, I saw a Union Pacific locomotive (SD70, I...

    LL GP9RM Decoder Installation

Thanks for the advice, I've sent an email off to the technical support people at Digitrax, and we'll see how they respond...

    LL GP9RM Decoder Installation

Ooops... I forgot that these Life Like GP9RM's are N-Scale, not HO scale... which creates more of a space issue...

    LL GP9RM Decoder Installation

The Locomotives I am talking about are limited edition releases in only two roadnames: Canadian Pacific and Canadian National. There's pictures of some CN ones over in the "Real Thing: Canada" forum under "CN London Pics." They're made by Life Like Canada... apparently only 216 of each road...

    Track Planning Software

You can also save it as a .bmp file as well. The nice thing about doing it this way (be it pcx, bmp, or other) is that it saves it in a file which is precisely the size of the layout you're working on. No cropping in Photoshop or whatever...

    LL GP9RM Decoder Installation

Just recently Life Like Canada has released a set of limited edition GP9 "Chop Noses" for both Canadian Pacific (GP9u) and Canadian National (GP9RM). They're part of their proto 2000 series. They look great, I've even seen a few of these up close. However, I've heard that Life Like are...

    Modelling an N-Scale SD75I

From what I understand, the right side of the model and the actually SD75I are even closer in appearance than they are on the left. Chances are I'd only have to add the small grille at the back. I've done model conversions before, but on a larger scale. Any suggestions on what I might use...

    CN Oxford Subdivision Take 2

Actually, that's a very good point... I figure it will be able to clear at least one car and leave room for the switcher to get around it, even with the above design. Thanks for your help... any other comments/critiques?

    Modelling an N-Scale SD75I

Did some trainwatching today... the local Canadian National yard was pulling together a train with two SD75I's in a consist, and a third one that looked like it was about to be put into service. I know that Kato makes the SD70Mac, but the SD75I's seem to be a variant with some differences in the...

    CN Oxford Subdivision Take 2

60103: After doing a bit of experimenting, I think I'll end up shortening up the team track by one or two sectional lengths. Ultimately, this layout will be mostly flextrack and turnouts... However, in trying to lengthen the runaround, the right switchback becomes too short to handle any decent...

    CN Oxford Subdivision Take 2

Nice catch... ;) I'll admit that I borrow a fair bit from this particular plan... It's the first one that I had ever seen proposed for the top of a door... Or rather, the Adrisport/Codyville variant on this one. However, I wanted broader curves on mine, and a bit more room for scenery than...
