Just a quick update and a single picture... I'm still laying out track, so I have yet to add risers and such. Here's a pic with the CBCNS shortline being roughed in with track. I still don't have enough track... the line in the center of the layout will be a 2-3% grade with a tire...

Probably more than white glue or carpenter's glue :) ...according to the website it's around $60 for a gallon of the stuff... but you don't have to use it in as high concentrations as white glue. I should go confirm the price today when I get some lunch.

Matte medium is what artists use to mix with their acrylic pigments for painting... so yes, you can nicely add paint to it. I use it for making glazes and shading washes for my non-train miniature painting.

Cool... thanks for the link... I've not done any scale speed stuff with any of my DCC locos yet. Eventually... especially with those I am intending to make consists with. I want to have all my mainline locos to be able to have the same overall speed performance if possible.

I forgot to reply to this... Well... the Kato SD40-2 that's out in front is their earlier version. It already has an installed decoder. The one still in the box is the new one... which I've not had a chance to install the decoder in just yet.... but soon! I'm planning on repainting the SD40-2...
