    Railimages and dread "X"

I have copied two seperate threads about railimages, one from Charlie who owns trainboard, and one from Paul who helps out in the railimages section. Both posts are fairly self explanartory. I know they are working hard to get railimages back up as it is very popular. Any of you looking for a...

    My Town!

Excellent modelling. I wasn't sure if I was in the N forum or the HO forum. What you have done is difficult at the best of times, in N scale - fabulous.

MT are still the best couplers. Peco 55 is really code 80 in drag. Part of the rail is embedded in the ties so it has the bullet proof qualities of code 80 but looks like code 55. Atlas 55 has problems; however, if you are just starting out and it sounds like your are going very...

    Working With Cardboard

I have used this product on my backdrop, but I bet it would work well with the card board structures as well. After I got my backdrop up, an arts and craft person recommended that I spray it with a paper fixative, which I did. This provides a fine coat so that if I get something on the...

    Help with computer

Mikey, I am having power up problems I won't bore you with (and I've heard just about every theory there is) but I did your little suggestion of "my computer" then "properties" and then "devise manager". And yep, there was a little yellow circle beside "advanced power management." The little...

First Pics of the layout I am working on

David, There are now full specturm flourescents that work quite well and don't need to be compensated for in photography. A buddy of mine took these pics and he also took pics of a mutual friends of ours layout. The chap who owns the layout only lights with full specturm flourescents; no...

First Pics of the layout I am working on

I have bought rope lighting that if "snaked" instead of put across in a line, gives good coverage....BUT....I am worried about heat (small room with people + lights = heat). So if heat becomes an issue with the rope lighting, I will replace it with flourescent lighting.

First Pics of the layout I am working on

Charlie, I made my own L brackets from MDF. If you look carefully you can see the bracket extending on down behind the backdrop. On the left side which will have a reversing loop as well, I will have one tall structure with a taller chimney which extends all the way to add support to that...

First Pics of the layout I am working on

If this works, this should be my first pic of my layout I have ever shown in public. The photo was taken with an 18 Mil lens so the room is somewhat distorted in appearance. The back of the room looks about 4 feet wide, but is 7 feet wide. On the far right hand corner of the photo, you will see...

Our Little Lost Dog Story #1

My experiences with the SPCA here in Vancouver and North Vancouver, BC reflects what you have said. I'm sure there will be wonderful stories about the spca now, but I can tell you they have a dark side as well. My recommendation is to get another puppy. There are so many unwanted animals...

    Little Lost Dog, Part II

Dobies can be great dogs, intelligent and sensitive, energetic and family oriented - you should have a great time. Things I have learned after 27 years of dogs owning me: 1) Never hit a dog. You don't need to and hitting means you have failed, not the dog. 2) Keep a dog on the lead...

    Finally...some hope!

Matt, Good luck - lots of us have been there and know the frustrations of unemployment and poor job offers... hang in there guy... even if this one doesn't work out.

    Newbie Question

I suggest you join trainboard.com for an answer to this one. All layouts at one time were run by battery. Then there was the great switch to power packs. I'm sure there was a raging debate then about batteries vs power packs, just as there is a debate between dc power packs and dcc. The...

    NMRA Toronto Show

I'm an operator at my friends home which is almost always on the NMRA layout tours. I like them because there is so much excitement and interest and you meet some great folks. Sound like you have had a similar experience... Good luck on tomorrow's tour.

    Woodchip Industry

Mathieu, I will give you my recommendations for me; you can glean from it what you want. Philosophy: A backdrop is one of the most important items on a layout. Although it should not dominate, it should not detract either. There are three levels of backdrops - 1) the Wow! category where...
