    A question about CAD

aartwmich isi right - I've used 3rd Planit to make my layout that is currently under construction. Here's a link to the pages: http://www.moctezuma-us.com/bonkyrail/layoutpics2.htm select the top pic to view what the program can do - at least at my rudimentary level. The 3D view is very...

    Just in case anyone noticed....

I definitely consider my back patted. Thank you, all of you, so very much for the surprising response. What a swell bunch! Of course the "free" time I've had allowed me to attend to the rebuild of BonkyRail Lines, a.k.a. BRL, and I've attached a little pick of the first run around the inner...

    Circuits for Model railroads

Sigh :( if only I could read those things. Just goes to show you, no matter how smart you are there's always something new to learn.

    Atlas code 83 flex track

I've just started using code 83 flex (which I find MUCH easier to use than code 100) and was able to easily punch those holes through with a long foam pin. No drilling. I'll be securing the track with rubber cement and holding it in place with those same pins, same to be removed with the cement...

    Just in case anyone noticed....

I've been gone a while, but have happily stuck my nose back in once more. A lot has happened over the last two weeks. Not the least of which is I lost my job, spent a week in the looney bin, and have spent the last week trying to find work. I've also begun to rebuild the BRL layout #2. I...

    Trouble Brewing?

I don't know - some of those good old boys like their cars better than girls. The car pictured here is very cool, but I prefer Daisy myself.

    Foam Subroadbed

Benchwork is completed and I've all the 2" foam subroadbed I need. Now I must decide whether or not to add a 1/4" layer of plywood or hardboard between the foam and the benchwork. I simply don't see the need for it and would prefer to skip it. Yes - if I need to install something (turnout...

How to insult a model railroader ?

okay - how about.... have you ever considered taking up pottery? I'm sorry - I'm not laughing AT you. THIS is what you've been doing all night???? I'm no expert, but those rocks looks fake. So what are you going to do when it's done? Go play with your trains. Isn't it great...

    Layout Finalized (i think)

to all on the web site design - I do that as another "hobby" and for my company too. It's almost as fun as this! well now - that's the kind of support I'm used to here... thank you. shamus - the control panel exists because of your design. Simple and solid. Too bad it is obsolete and has...

    Layout Finalized (i think)

I've finally done it. The new BonkyRail Lines HO layout has been designed to my satisfaction and can be viewed HERE Just be sure and scroll down until you see the teeny little benchwork picture and then click on it.

    Deleted??

Okay - maybe I jumped off the deep end a bit. Maybe it's because the day before I learned a system administrator at my office didn't do his job. When my Intranet server's hardware crashed and wiped out the data on the drives, he had NO BACKUPS OF THE DATA!!!!!! I personally lost 7 months...

    Deleted??

Proudly, I added a post to the Track Planning forum area last night. Today I find that it's gone. Sorry to have bothered you "experts" with my puny little design again, but deleting it was rude.:( I'll be back after I build something more to your standards.

    I've a Dilemma

All, I've decided to stick with my original 5 x 9 expansion from the 4 x 8, making use of the existing benchwork and modifying the top of same, rebuilding using the new design and leaving the spur on the north side available to connect to a switch yard and several industrial spurs as the...

    Further refinements

60103 is soooooo right. Before I used Atlas Right track (and now 3rd planit) I tried going at it by hand in a drawing proggie and was WAAAYYY off. For example - the #4 and #6 turnouts are quite different and getting them wrong will destroy your real nice design. At the very least get them drawn...

    The Whole Darn Thing

At first glance I thought, wow that would be something to win. Then after thinking about it, reading the page and then reading all your posts I came to the realization that I'd really rather forget I ever saw it and tell no one I know about it. For the winner, an all encompassing nightmare...

    I've a Dilemma

to answer some questions, here's a revised big layout, including room dimensions. To make it fit I flipped and rotated the layout. Walls touching only on top and right with all other area accessible. Now vot chew tink, heh?
