    way to go Walthers!

I have a pair of OLD Atlas S-1's that I custom painted, one for WP and one for Tidewater Southern that I really liked. Problem was, the TS one had a truck screw that kept backing out and when that happened, usually in a tunnel (figures) the tiny bone shaped drive shaft on that truck would fall...

    Alcohol?

I use an old 4 oz. Elmer's glue bottle with about a cap full of Alcohol and about 2 ounces of white glue and 1.5 ounces of water. I like using the Elmer's bottle as the applicator (the cone type) gives me a good flow and good control of where the glue is going in the ballast.

Lucky you! :thumb: I hear those Spectrum 2-8-0's are SWEET. They sure look nice. I'd like to get my hands on 2 of them for my layout and do them up in CNE road name. Congrats!

    Arnies's train store

I've got to get out more when I travel, I was just in Westminster for work not long ago, and didn't even think to check for train shops, heck, i never do. I always go with the mind set that I'm there to work, not on vacation, yet inevitably, I end up with loads of free time on my hands and sit...

    Lets see what you got

Alicia's mom lives down south near Paso Robles Ca on the SP Coast Line, so we don't see her very often as it's about a 4 hour drive. She does come up for the holidays though and each Christmas, since her Dad was a CB&Q Engineer, she always looks for something train related for me as Christmas...

    Another reason I hate ebay...

That is an illegal scam that thousands of sellers use to rip off E-bay. Ebay only chrges their fee based on the SELLING cost, NOT the shipping cost. So the sellers take a few bucks off the cost and add it to the shipping. That way, their fee to Ebay is less and they still are able to get what...

    Another reason I hate ebay...

I'm with Mikey on this, I smell a rat (scam). He's trying to get you for $17 which is extortion really, since if you don't, he'll threaten with negative feedback. I was *just* telling Alicia, the Holidays bring out the worst in a LOT of people. It's all about greed anymore and makes me sick.

    Here is a goofy idea...

Greg Elems and I did that last weekend. We call that a "Toga Party". No, you DON'T want to see pics.

What personalities would your engines have?

With the care and attention the engines in my collection receive, they should have a personality like this: Instead, most of *my* locomotives act like this: Darned if I can figure it out sometimes..... wall1

custom decals - a helpful tip

Eggzachary. I tried printing light yellow lettering once on my printer onto Bell decal paper (clear) and it was so opaque, that it didn't even show up on the clear paper, but did on the white. I'd imagine it was the same problem Nach would have trying to print gold lettering on clear paper...

Find the RR that matches your personality!

It said I am "The Amtrak Coast Starlight". Um...O...k.... Funny because I used to be a Conductor on the Starlight off the Extra Board out of Oakland several years ago. The rest of it is WAAAAY off. I've never hugged a tree and don't intend to. I don't care to whale watch, especially not...

    What do you read?

 A frien of mine I worked with at Amtrak wrote a good collection of short stories he was involved in as a Conductor for Missouri Pacific and for Amtrak. I was his brakeman in one of them. Check it out here: A Conductor tells... "Unauthorized Train Stories" By; Ken Lothridge (I...

I Just Finished Watching Polar Express

But...But...But.... It's ANGELINA JOLIE'S HIPS! (Mmmmmmmm......Angelina.......) Polar Express is such a cool flick though. I ended up buying a Rivarossi 4-8-4 to paint, letter and modify into the Polar Express engine for the Christmas tree. Now I just need to find a cheap set of...

    What do you read?

Maxim Magazine. Cracks me up some of the stuff the editors come up with. Some beautiful women too. Other than that, I read a lot of techincal stuff for work, yes guys, railroad reading CAN be VERY boring. Especially the CFR49. I'll also pick up TIME and read it on an airplane or something...

    Steam Engine Rosters

Will do! Funny you mention that anyway, I went to school in nearby Lodi and trust me, if you've ever been to Lodi at least once, you'll somehow manage to get stuck in town. I have. One time I missed the bus, another, my car broke down there. Lodians will tell you its the curse of that song...

Tips on creating water ripples with gloss gel medium?

I didn't do the wave caps, I read that in magazines. As for the ripples on the water, I waited about 30 minutes and broke out the hair dryer. Tom

Tips on creating water ripples with gloss gel medium?

Use a hairdryer to create the ripples while it is still wet. Then use a tooth pic to pull wave crests up and stipple some white paint on top of those if you want rough water. Tom
