    Need Athearn re-motor advice please

Thanks a bunch, I looked into the A-Line re-motor jobs, but they are a little pricey. I guess though if I want these to run smooth as silk, I'll have to bite the bullet and go that route. I do have a few already purchased before they really jumped in price and they are smooth.

    Back Home

Welcome home brother! Thank you very much for your service. Talked to my brother in law who is a crew chief on a Chinook and he says Afghanistan is getting hairier and hairierby the minute. He took a softball sized hit dropping ground pounders last night. REALLY ugly, so pray for those guys...

I think WSOR Horicon painted ALL of the Heritage units, but I could be wrong.

    On Track, with Deano

NS did get several locomotives that were delivered in primer paint, the paint was contracted out to shops like WSOR's paint booth. What ended up happening was the NS needed power right away and a few ended up running around for a while in primer. IIRC, BNSF had a few as well.

This might be ridiculous, but hang with me...

I have some some small replica gold spikes that are in reality live steam scale railroad spikes (real ones) about 4" long that you're welcome to. I would be happy to send you a few if you're interested. Just email me an address if you'd like a few to put with picture frames, or to give out as...

    Ebay & A*&&holes !!

Where else is people going in lieu of FEEBay? It's gotten ridiculous, NOW, those creeps are FORCING you to pay via Pay-pal or Propay (which of you thought Pay-Pal was horrible!, oh and Pay-Pal is buying Propay right now), yet you can still pay your fees to Pay-Pal with a money order. Talk...

Hey Josh, in the past I just made a stencil out of recipe cards, cutting them with a steel ruler and a fresh X-acto #11 blade cutting stencils for dashed lines, and straight lines. I would *very lightly* mark dashed lines with a white colored pencil on my roads (very faint) using a ruler and...

    The Old West Structures

I bought a couple of copies of that book and had planned at one time to cut them out to use as templates for stripwood and basswood to scratchbuild several wild west buildings for an old west diorama in HO Scale. The problem is, finding HO Scale Old West figures is near impossible, so I shelved...

This is what the General Code of Operating Rules says in regards to Track Warrant Operation: http://www.sdrm.org/faqs/rulebook/warrant.html#14.3 (A little "light reading")

    Track Warrants

Here is a sample Track Warrant from a Major Class 1 Railroad. Pretty Simple really, I actually prefer Track Warrant operation over CTC. (But that is just *me*).

Loads for two open cars ???

ACTUALLY... That flat car is pretty close to spot on for UP cars loaded with pipe in the mid 1960's to 1980's. As for the load, the braqcing is actually pretty close to if not right on for bracing of metal pipes. I would just change out the chains with metal banding or steel cable. Metal...

Yeah, that was the biggest visual difference with the clasp brakes at each end of the B's making the M's, like you said, look naked.

    On Track, with Deano

The Blomberg "M" type trucks have the shock absorbers and a different style of leaf springs in the center of the trucks. The B type has brake pistons above each journal whereas the M Type has one on each side frame so it can accomodate the shock absorbers.

    Progress photos

Cool! My Dad spent 30 years as a Carman, but had to start out as a Carman Laborer, working a very simiar cleanout track (Western Pacific Stockton called it "the Service Track". He cleaned and prepped many boxcars over the years! Great scene, the layout is shaping up very nicely. Keep us...
