    On Track, with Deano

Yeah, I feel kinda bad now, I grew up with and on the UP, and it and the Wp will always be "family" to my family, but I was pretty put off and disgusted with the mentality and foul attitude of the SP guys (and still run into that crap here and there on the old SP lines)

None of the 90's got wings, though several *did* get the *apparently TOO hastily applied* "We will Deliver" slogan starting around 1996 or so after the SP merger. One afternoon in 1997 or '98, I had to hostle some UP power out of the way of our motors at West Oakland (when I worked at Amtrak)...

Ok, I goofed. After pulling this car from storage, I was mistaken, I have WP 12056, not WP 12076. Sorry 'bout that. At any rate, here is the car, but apparently, it needs to hit the RIP track before it ever leaves an initial terminal again. What ever happened to that cars sill steps...

    Photography Game?

Ok, I'll ante up. I'm in! No Western Pacific yet after 7 pages?! I'll fix THAT! WP 3533 @ Stockton, CA getting ready to head West to Oakland some time in the early 1970's (1973??) I'll bet dollars to donuts that this thread sets a record with the number of replies here on...

Sure thing Deano, as soon as I get back to town, I'll try to remember to dig it out and snap some shots of it. :thumb:

SWEET! More WP please! Funny, I have a model of that car, and with the weathering on it, it looks like the real 12076. Thanks Deano! :thumb:

Yeah, I hear ya there, hindsight being 20/20, I should have bought as many Pinto's and Bobcats from Fresh Cherries when they were on clearance for $.47 a piece at Wally World. Those and the cheap plastic Life-Like Ford pickups would be perfect to fill racks like that on the WP out of the Ford...

Hey Deano, you have any pics of that TTBX (UP) autorack bro? I LOVE open Auto racks. One of these days, I'm going to have to get on the stick and start building a bunch for my WP trains (Open cars). Any suggestions as to best ones to purchase?

Wow! That paint scheme is CLASSY! VERY nice selection of colors. (Silver trucks & Underframes make ANY scheme classy in my opinion)

This might be ridiculous, but hang with me...

Guys, those that asked for the Gold Spikes bear with me, I have been on the road non stop lately, and just got yesterday and today off at home and didn't make it to the Post office today, I will once I return from Los Angeles Friday afternoon. They're already packed and ready to go. Thanks...

    Weekly Photo Fun 10-24/10-31

Christmas came early today at my house. Just recieved from our good friend Doctor Wayne, Grand Valley #45 and caboose (or is it a van?? ) #373. I sure wish I had one of those slick photo dioramas like a lot of you guys to have photo'd these models on, but I am working on one right...

Laguna Nigel, down on the Southern California Coast (Beach Community, where you WANT the ladies down there mooning you). HILLARIOUS to come through there working a train. Most of our trains "self" issued Track Bulletin Form "A"'s through there the one year I was working down there for Amtrak...

WOW! That is one PAMPERED S-1. Glad to see one like that, especially in regular service. I used to look for reasons to Bad Order our SW1200 each night so we could grab the S-4 or S-1 when I worked at ST&E. In fact, we all did.

Yeah, if you ever got to meet John, you'd be surprised as he is a very young guy, but man does he know his tea-kettles! This guy in my (and many others) opinions ranks up there with Doyle McCormick, Steve Lee and Ross Rowland.

    Need Athearn re-motor advice please

These are the brass style Athearn motors. Athearns are funky though with a hit or miss record. I had an SW1500 (took a header off the layout but still have the guts in a Cary Alco Switcher) that for some odd reason, that motor always ran, straight out of the box, as smooth as an Atlas or Kato...
