Logging East Tennessee on the C&S RR

I've been seriously considering one of those 2-6-6-2's for quite a while now, i'd like the un-tender'd tank version because of length restriction on my layout. Gotta keep up a little better speed-wise with the diesel guys at my local club heh. I'll keep in mind the spring trimming (have seen...

Help with customizing old O27 track

The rule of thumb on S curves is to leave in a straight section of track between as long as the longest car you plan to run over it. See this diagram. A good investment would be a pull-behind track cleaning car, getting up on a stool to clean all that might be a pain sign1 You're doing...

Building a Canadian wooden grain elevator.

I cant say i've ever seen anyone do an interior on a grain elevator before! Very cool :thumb:

Eastern Tn logging on the DG CC & W RR 1928

That first picture really blends in with the background, it's supposed to be there! lol My only suggestion is to clean the windows, even if they're black plastic underneath it will differentiate them from the body proper of the loco and give some indication there's empty space there. Dont clean...

    Just A couple of Photos

Do you have a pic of the tractor's smokebox front? That'd be where some info would be. If it has a big globe and eagle it's a Case.

    MOW dump truck

ONLY loco  Most shortlines i've seen have at least 2-3 locos, in case one breaks down. Interesting line. :thumb:

    MOW dump truck

That's incredibly unique! The quick disconnect hydraulic hoses indicate it's probably pulled by a pretty big hirail (small semi), or possibly a trackmobile, something with a good sized hydraulic pump. Excellent find, where is it? :thumb:

    Locomotive aesthetics

The appearance of a locomotive and its function are closely related to me. A 4-8-4 pulling a log train would look very stupid and odd to me, as would a shay pulling a passenger train (unless it were some old broken down combines). Diesels can haul most anything, and probably have, which is...

Your links are broken because they've been copy/pasted from another posting somewhere, i'd imagine, and not directly from the URL bar in your browser. Open up the pics in your browser, copy/paste the URL up there, and then they'll work :thumb:

    Real Steam Donkey in action

I think this thread is now about steam tractors  :thumb: I wish there were more donkeys in operation. Speaking of steam-powered (or just tractor powered) sawmills, there's one near me here in Montana. There's some equipment for a donkey (the cylinders...

Agreed! Dont let Top Gear get ahold of your goose, it'd be flying off a building or god knows what else ;)

Picture thread of your Logging, Mining, or unique industrial equipment.

That red/black primer combo looks spectacular on your boiler and winches :thumb: I'm guessing your donkeys will be wood fired as well? Plenty of wood out there, as you mentioned.
