    BNSF Track Plan

I don't know if it's against any rules or not, but I thought I'd post my proposed track plan over here in the N scale forum as well as the track planning forum to see if I could pick up a few more reviews. The track plan shown below is modeling modern day BNSF. The only thing shown here is...

Layout #06 - Trying Again - Opinions Welcome

Good point. I think I'll be able to reach everything okay based on my experimenting last night, but an access hatch is definitely a possibility. You put yours in the back corner, correct?

    CN Oxford Subdivision (Layout Plan)

The only problem I see is that it appears that there is no way for a train traveling counterclockwise on the inside line to ever get to the outside line.

Layout #06 - Trying Again - Opinions Welcome

;) They're coming. Like I said, I wanted to nail the mainline and staging down first...then add the yards and industry in. Besides that, when I got to this point in the track plan it was late and I was ready to go to bed. The rest of it will come tonight, buy it will be similar to what I...

Layout #06 - Trying Again - Opinions Welcome

Okay...based on feedback I've received so far in my other two threads, I've made some changes that I think make the layout better. First of all, I increased the width of the layout. It is now 36" for the majority instead of 24". To be safe, I went out to a 36" workbench in the garage and...

    CN Oxford Subdivision (Layout Plan)

I look forward to seeing what you come up with! :) I'm not sure there will be much difference between drawing it in C55 and C80, but you can try it.

    CN Oxford Subdivision (Layout Plan)

Track planning, especially when you have little room to work with, can be frustrating I think. The important thing is to find something that YOU are happy with. My problem isn't space...my problem is finding a track plan that I think I can make look realistic. I'm with you...as this has...

Revised Track Plan - Opinions Needed

WHAT IF.... ....I did something like this. This is a quick and dirty job in Paint so it's not that pretty, but what if I changed the benchwork and did something along these lines?? What would that do to me?? With a benchwork height of 48 inches I don't think it would be hard to reach 36...

I like the changes too...but I'm struggling with my own track plan over in the track planning section so what do I know. :(

Hehehe....you don't miss anything do you? :D I need to make some more adjustments tonight so I'll fix that too. Thanks. ;)

Revised Track Plan - Opinions Needed

Okay...I'm with you now. Thanks. The industry area down at the bottom may be changing drastically because I'm considering going to a western flood loader for the coal trains instead of the tipple that I have drawn on there right now. Don't quite know how I'll arrange the tracks for that...

    Question on Coal Operations

Looks something like this for those who haven't seen them... Now....while I do realize this is MY railroad and I can pretty much do what I want, I still want to maintain a certain amount of prototypical characteristics. Modeling modern day BNSF (who I believe gets most of their coal...

Can you clarify that a little bit? I'm not quite following what you're saying. You mean like curving the staging yard around and make it double ended?? That's possible...and I had thought about that actually. I may have to play around with it some more tonight and see what else I can come...

Revised Track Plan - Opinions Needed

Re: Your Track Plan Right. As I have it drawn right now, both the staging and that portion of the main/passing siding would be hidden behind scenery. You bring up good points. Unfortunately I don't have a closet in this room to hide the staging in, so I either have to have it ON the...

Revised Track Plan - Opinions Needed

Alright gents...based on your suggestions I made some changes. While it's not shown on the drawing really, I still intend for the staging (and now the mainline and North Passing Siding) to be hidden behind either scenery or a backdrop. Here's the revised (again) plan, or you can go HERE for...
