Agatheron, I see you are still struggling with a track plan like I am. ;) I am not familiar with that plan, but if I were to do it I would do whatever possible to broaden those curves. Even if your equipment can handle it, the long cars you plan to run won't look good on curves that tight...

This is what I had in mind for scenery....

I come up with the same numbers you do for an 18" curve on a 2% grade. Hmmmm....I could easily change the benchwork to allow for up to about 22" radius. By my calculations, that would be approximately 138" per "loop", dropping 2.875" per loop on a 2% grade. I think this would be mo' better...

I'm going to be putting a helix in my layout (see photos in sig) to go down to a hidden staging area underneath. What radius is a good radius for a helix? I can easily fit an 18" radius in now, but can go bigger if I make some adjustments to the benchwork. I anticipate the second deck being...

Not Australia....Texas. And, it's not an entry door, it's a door that opens up to the closet that the hot water heater is located in. Local codes requires that gas hot water heaters in the garage be a minimum of 18" off the ground. :)

Same here. Great camera, great lens, able to be fully auto or all manual...works well for me.

Good point on the lift out and track. I guess I hadn't really thought about the track aspect of it...just the wood aspect. It will be quite a while before I consider myself senior, but there may be occasions where I have senior visitors. I make take an old chair and put casters on...
