Help Choosing a coupler for Kato pulling Con-Cor

Just checked...it doesn't list con-cor as ever making superliner passenger cars in N-scale...however, for top-of-the-line couplers and trucks, use the Micro-trains 1130 truck and coupler conversion kit...it'll fit every passenger car con-cor ever did, according to Microtrains. If your going to...

Help Choosing a coupler for Kato pulling Con-Cor

Tony... Change the couplers on the cars...i assume they look like a large, L-shaped hunk-a-plastic? They are "rapidos"...commonly called "Crapidos" by modelers. The KATO P42 has the stock KATO kunckle couplers on it, as you said, much better... go to www.micro-trains.com and click...

    Crandall Cabs

Hey guys... I got a couple unpowered LL E6 B-units...i'm thinking of hacking the "front" off of one of them, and scratchbuilding a crandall cab onto one...problem is, i never SAW a crandall cab in real life, nor have i ever seen measurements for one. I don't care if mine ain't perfect, all...

    Staging yards.

Mike, If you remove the "balloon" staging tracks, will you put in a roundhouse and turntable to turn your locomotives? **smug grin** If you only run your units around the trains, you'll occasionally have a unit facing the wrong way (long hood forward) and will have to turn it somehow...0-5-0...

Remote contrl locos on U.P. Anaheim branch.

Brian...been there, done that...got wierd looks from the locomotive engineer who was sitting on the rear steps of the rear unit of the 2-unit SW1200R R/C combo. The 2 units were running front-to-rear (elephant style :D ) and he was on the steps out the back of the cab on the rear unit.

    20 yr old dreams!

i would HIGHLY advise against taking apart an old locomotive...they're more then likly riveted together and as we all know, rivets don't go back together again. As for, if you DO take them apart, taking the gearbox out and ripping it to pieces, i wouldn't. Thats asking for trouble. Dust...
