    Clubs and organizations?

I used to belong to a club. It was OK. As others mentioned, some could be a bunch of Grumpy Old Men who talked more about politics and less about trains. It was an N-gauge club. I got into N-gauge just for this club and for the social aspect of belonging to a club, and it was far easier...

    A Callenge accepted

Wow. Nice detail.:thumb: That's the kind of modeling I aspire to. I too, use real names on my layout. Each family member and close friend is (or will be) somehow commemorated with a business. In some cases it's a sign over a building, sometimes just a name on a truck. I try to have the...

    Classification light question.

I did a search through the forum, but couldn't find the answer to my question. I recently won a brass SD-45 on eBay that I'm in the process of painting for the Burlington Northern and converting to DCC. The model has classification lights on the nose and rear of the long hood. I'm going to set...

    Most Expensive Locomotives

Mine is an HO Proto 2000 E8. The initial expense wasn't too bad, but I sent it out to have a Soundtraxx sound decoder installed. In N gauge I don't really have anything terribly expensive. Mostly Atlas stuff. I'd have to say it would be my Micro-Trains FT set.

    What A Bummer!

THAT's funny! I sing in choirs, so along the same lines; How many choir conductors does it take to change a lightblulb? Nobody knows...who ever watches the conductor? Back to topic. I love eBay. Given that the only brick and mortar hobby shop (selling trains, at least) in the area...

Very nice Ralph. The perspective is excellent. I'm going to have to give that a try. Thanks for the tip.

    Opening a Hobby Shop?

I had the opportunity to buy an already established hobby shop recently. It was in a good area, with a large clientèle. The owners were selling to move closer to family. They were great people and I had established a friendly relationship with them over the years. It was to the point even my...

    Brooklyn Locomotive Works

They're normally pretty good. I wonder what the problem could be.

I need a good paint remover.

I've had good luck with Pine Sol, but for really tough stuff Chameleon paint stripper is the best.

    Super Continental passenger train

That is absolutely wonderful. I finally got my Amtrak consist finished. I have all the cars and locos, now I just need to finish the Amtrak Cascades. Waiting in the wings is a Novatech Plastics Turbotrain kit. On top of that, I'm trying to accumulate enough cars to reporduce the Canadian. I...

    Does this describe you?

Yes, I have a support group. Here. People in this forum would more than support my buying more trains.

Time for...... What are you doing??????

I don't have any grand plans. My Father-in-Law goes in for multiple bypass surgery tomorrow (Wednesday) so I'm going to have to be helping him most of the weekend. At 83, he's a little self concious about asking my wife to help him do some of the basic things. Hopefully I can catch the Indy...

    GE 44 Ton DCC Tutorial

I'm going to try your idea. It's along the lines of what I was thinking of, now to see if I can get it to work. I have a z scale decoder that should fit fine, and I already have a supply of 16V bulbs. Thanks.:-D

Finally the Layout is moving along!

That looks great! If I ever did my layout over, I think I would do a lift bridge. Even though my layout is high (48" at the lowest) I find duckunders get tiresome quickly.

    BNSF modelers!

I like that GP-30. Did you paint that yourself? I have one done in BN. Personally, I like the Heritage III scheme the best.

Which HO Track do you use a majority of?

I used code 83 brown-tie flex track and Atlas code 83 brown-tie #6 switches for my entire layout. Except for one spot (my fault with the poor soldering) I have no issues at all. All my switches are operated with caboose hobbies ground throws.

Question for all you Canadians, (Americans too)

I do things like that, too. Each family member and friend gets some sort of commemoration. My vegetarian Brother-in-Law got a Fruit and Veggie store, my best friend and his brother get an accountant's office. I think it's a great idea. I even got a hobby shop.:-D

    BNSF modelers!

Well, except for 3 locomotives; An Amtrak P42 I'm finishing up with a decoder, a brass SD-45 I picked up on eBay and am repainting in BN, and a Lifelike E-8 out at Loy's Toy's having a Soundtraxx sound decoder installed, this is my affliction, I mean collection:-D : I think I need more trains.

    Intresting Spelling

OK, at first I thought it might be some prank, but if it's on both sides... That's too funny. It's obviously been there a while, too.
