    Please pray

I agree with jimh, and many of the other members who've offered similar sentiments. I've always heard that from bad comes better. And I've found it to be true. Keep your eyes open for opportunities. I'll be rooting for you.:thumb:

    graffitti cars

Both Blair line and Microscale make graffiti decals. I have one car I bought off e-Bay that was pre-weathered with graffiti. It makes an interesting addition to an otherwise plain train. I plan on doing a few myself, as well as adding some to my overpasses and such. Not too much, just here...

VIA Rail reveals new passenger train

I need to get one of those. It would make doing my lawn so much more fun.sign1

How often do you log in?

I try to log in once a day, at least. Sometimes I might go a few days, but as summer winds down and the temperature drops, my thoughts of trains increase. So, I'll probably be checking in more often as I get to spend more time on my layout.

    My latest project

That looks pretty darn good.:thumb: I've looked at a couple of their structures. Working on and off for a month doesn't seem too bad for a structure that large.

    Are your trains an escape?

I love nothing more when it's cold or rainy to retreat to my bonus room to run trains or work on the layout. It's nice having the layout so close and accessible. Even if all I have is a few minutes to steal away and putter, I find it very rejuvenating.

    Decal Debacle

I agree with doctorwayne in pretty much all regards. I also keep a paper towel handy (usually just a small pice). Once I wet the car down and slide the decal onto the water, I'll just touch the corner of the paper towel to the water bead, sucking the water out from under the decal. At that...

Indiana Mom Attempts to Outrun Freight Train

Most of the engineers do need some sort of councileng after an accident. It's a real shame. You know, I get annoyed at getting stopped for a bridge lift (we have a lot of Navy traffic here), but it's just that. An annoyance. Why would you risk your life, and your kids, because of an...

    Converting to DCC

I have the Digitrax Zephyr system, with a few upgrades, and I can only say good things about it. From what I've heard the NCE sysem is pretty good, too. So, I don't think you can go wrong either way. The issue comes down to features. I'm sure you could view both operators manuals online and get...

    HO Code 83 Track?

I use Atlas code 83 brown tie track myself. I like their #6 switches which I actuate using caboose hobbies ground throws. All in all I have no complaints. I had considered using code 70 on a part of the layout, but I'm glad I didn't. I have some older rolling stock I think would have...

Is there a common tool for cutting flex track?

I use a Xuron track cutter. Like ezdays says, it's realy just a flush cutting wire cutter. It leaves the section of track you want to use with a nice flat edge. I've also used a moto-tool with an abrasive disk.

    Where is your layout situated?

I rather took over the majority of the bonus room over the garage. It's turned into the "Man Cave" and includes my layout (11 x 13 or so), my workbench, bar, TV, etc.

    Well intentioned railroad gifts

A friend's Wife once bought me a bunch of Lionel track and some accessories, only problem was I don't have the first piece of O-gauge. To her credit, she did say she didn't know if I could use it, but bought it anyway (it was a yard sale find). She also bought me a very nice railroad stock...

    Which regions/areas do you model?

I model the Pacific Northwest, loosely based on Vancouver, BC. I just love the scenery and the area in general. I've only visited once, but fell in love with the area.

    Recent Strasburg, PA Trip

It's a great place to visit. It's been a couple of years since I've been there, but I'd just love to go again.

    An accident changes an industry

Ralph, I can't tell you how many trees I've knocked over on my layout the same way. I'm sure it's frustrating to break something you've worked so hard to build. It sounds like you have a plan, though, and I look forward to seeing what you come up with. If it looks as good as the first...

    Burlington Norhtern SD80AMC!!

Very nicely done. I wasn't aware that BN had any SD80's. Do you have prototype pics? The latest record I've been able to find is for the SD70MAC. Looks good, though.

    My retirement presents

Congratulations on your retirement.:thumb: Those are some very thoughtful gifts your co-workers gave you. Other than the voices in my head, I work alone, so there are few chances for gifts from co-workers.
