Ya'its mine,forgot to say i bought it about 17yrs ago but still they can be found for a reasonable price. frankly the way some of the plastic locos are looking.....AND Sounding! i'd much preferr them when at all possible.... i just bought a bachmann 2-10-0 Russian Decapod with the Tsunami sound...

They can be had for less,this is a 1966 Akane that maybe does not have quite the detail of the later issues but it cost less than $500....painted/lettered/and with constance lighting. AND it pulls like a drafthorse....

Atlas code 100 placed with the sliding rail on the inside on either cork or homasote roadbed,also a trick i learned was to use small brads to hold the track....ballast the track and 24hrs later remove all the brad's and you get no transmitting of noise from the sub roadbed.

Its meant to keep things from falling to the floor,I,m sure a basket ball or any large object would cause serious damage....

Irongoat Take a gander over at the Ask the Bachmann forum,there are a couple of threads on the 4-4-0. Don't believe theres a review as yet but that would be the 1st place i would look for one.

Yep' my thought also,will ask for a refund as i have no confidence in the decapods at this time......hopefully they'll get this problem squared away and i buy one at a later date. also saw the repair solution at the Bachmann forum and feel its a bit much to have to do for something brand...

Make that 1/2 amp. any locomotive drawing over 3/4 amp has a problem somewhere.

Friend of mine a number of years back modifided a Bowser Challenger with a nwsl can motor+gear towers and added a 1/2 lb of weight and we ran out out of freight cars at 115....this on straight level track with 36'' cruves.

Frankly if it was me the first thing i would have done was to strip off the terrible looking paint job....then do my modifications and finish up with a fresh coat of paint :wave:

Their a bit pricey but Be hard to go wrong with the Kadee sprung trucks w/wheels. Extremley free wheeling with good tracking quality. you'll find you can pull at least 25% more cars when all are equipted with them.

Best bet for billboard 40 foot cars would be the Kadee 33" freightcar wheel sets.
