    Galileo Shuttlecraft from Star Trek

Thanks @spaceagent-9 . I've already ordered some, but thanks for the offer.:)

    Galileo Shuttlecraft from Star Trek

Thanks @zathros and @Revell-Fan . I think we are all on the same wavelength with things that can be done to build this very nice model a little better. At this point, I'm going to just address what little issues I can and finish strong. I'm one of those people that learn/think up things as I go...

Any chance we'll see a white template for this?

    Galileo Shuttlecraft from Star Trek

Thanks @Revell-Fan. I might do that because that's kind of what the original Galileo engines look like. I was thinking of printing some squares of the same color on bond paper and gluing them in place.

    Galileo Shuttlecraft from Star Trek

Gluing on the engines is always a little scary. To get them as level as possible, I set up a jig under the main hull (using a drill bit case and some scrap 2mm board) to get it to the right height. Then, I did a lot of test fitting with the engines. I had to do some very light cutting with my...

NACELLES FINAL ASSEMBLY Time to fire up the engines of progress!;) I attached the engine pylons and support braces to the wings. I glued one side at a time using Super Glue gel because I wanted a strong bond. The end results are perfectly usable, but I learned several things that I would...

    Galileo Shuttlecraft from Star Trek

Yeah, that whole centerline section is tough to replicate well in paper. The forward edges of the outer hull skin should be more thin and should flow into the centerline lip to look more like the real Galileo. I had the same thought about using filler and paint, but I wanted to build this one as...

    Galileo Shuttlecraft from Star Trek

No worries. This is a Gorn-free build.

    Galileo Shuttlecraft from Star Trek

SIDE RAIL The side of Galileo has a lip molded all the way around the centerline that blends into the wings. My goal was to come as close as I can without doing any major mods to the existing design. I can’t say what I came up with was the best solution, but it does somewhat approximate what’s...

    Galileo Shuttlecraft from Star Trek

MORE NACELLES Sorry for the long delayed update. Had a lot of warm weather home projects that had to be worked on. However, I have made some progress. Another trip to Hobby Lobby got me the perfect ends for my nacelles. These are 10mm half-round pearl beads from In Bloom. Cheap and easy fix!

“Moonbase Alpha Main Mission Study Model

That camera can hide a lot of sins. Always strange how a model that looks so rough in real life can look awesome on screen. ;)

This is coming along great! I can almost hear the sounds of Eagles crashing outside those windows. :)

“Moonbase Alpha Main Mission Study Model

This is a great project! I've developed a real soft spot for Space: 1999. I really like the tech because in a lot of ways it seems more achievable that other sci-fi hardware. I think you are doing really nice work. I've got a plan of my own for a future Moonbase Alpha scratch project ;) and you...

    Galileo Shuttlecraft from Star Trek

MORE ASSEMBLY Time to attach the sides! Each side has a little outline that shows where the main body attaches. I did several test fits to check alignment. I put a line of paper craft gel glue right up to the edge of the outline and several lines of glue back and forth through the center. I...

    Galileo Shuttlecraft from Star Trek

For the lower panels of the door frame I cut off the tabs and edge glued them to the inner hull skin. Since I didn’t use the original door parts, I had to plug the holes left on the upper door frame. After slightly closing the doors to make sure I had enough clearance I took some scrap matching...

    Galileo Shuttlecraft from Star Trek

MORE DOORS To add the support piece I had to cut it in half to clear the doors. I installed it the same as the starboard side but it was a bit trickier because the door hole made the side want to flex and bend. I had to cut sections out of the center section on both sides of the doors to...

    Galileo Shuttlecraft from Star Trek

Ask and ye shall receive, @Revell-Fan ;) MORE NACELLES I still haven’t found anything to make a good bubble out of for the nacelle end caps. So for now I’ve trimmed the original ends to fit flush against the inner core of the nacelles and glued them in. This will match Galileo’s nacelles as...
