    BUS connector?

At some point you are going to have to transition from ribbon cable to your control panel and pike wiring. How do you plan on doing that without soldering? That connector you posted has to mate to something. You will have to solder wires to that something. I think you will find the only thing...

    BUS connector?

Soldering 40+ pin connectors is not what I would call fun, and that is for connectors that are actually designed to have wires soldered to them. You would have to solder wires to connectors that are designed to be soldered into printed circuit boards, which means you would have to solder a wire...

    Railfanning around San Francisco?

Google Earth says 44 miles, Palo Alto to Felton. I figure about an hour to get there, maybe a tad more. Coming back would depend on how much beach traffic there is out of Santa Cruz this time of year.

    SD70MAC not running full throttle

It is posssible for reversible mechanisms to bind in one direction and run freely in the other. Worn brushes might also be the cause, if they make decent contact in one direction of rotation, but not the other. I would take it apart and have a look.

    Spam... I Cant Stand Spam

I don't see Hotmail spam either. It used to be so bad that I filtered out ALL Hotmail stuff. Now, I let it through with no problems. I rent my own server, too. Right now, I trap most spam with BogoFilter called by my email client, which works very well. Still, I think I will block those two Ips...

Well, if I had six to eight hours to kill on a Sunday in Palo Alto, I would be heading here to ride behind a shay. :thumb: You will have a rental car, won't you? :D

    Railfanning around San Francisco?

Bay Area Ridiculous Transit The LAST time I rode BART (notice the emphasis on LAST), it was from Concord to San Francisco. We proceeded at a blistering 25 mph all the way from Concord to Oakland. Seems they were having computer troubles, and that was the manual control speed limit. Never...
