    Remember the Academy

I hate to think how much time I spent going though those threads. Unfortuntely, I found the Gauge only a few months before Robin left us. Maybe I'll do a Robin link one week, and another Academy link the next. That should last a while! Jeff

    Atlas Duo or NCE powerhouse

That's a lot of current for 6 locos. But if that's what it is, it is. Anyway, given the choice, I'd go with the NCE. I think it will give you a more complete expandable system. That said, in theory any booster by any manufacturer should work with the Atlas system. I'd ask about a specific...

    Remember the Academy

...and Robin I posted this in N scale, but then I realized that there are actually other modellers out there:eek:, so I thought I should put it here, too... I have a feeling that a lot of the newer Gauge members have never wandered down to the sections at the bottom of the forum...

You say you need a bridge....

A warning, once you start exploring the Academy, you might not return for a while. You'll get sucked in! Jeff

You say you need a bridge....

I have a feeling that a lot of the newer Gauge members have never wandered down to the sections at the bottom of the forum, particularly the Academy. And they are probably not aware of Robin Matthysen, a Gauge member and excellent modeller who passed away a little over two years ago. Robin...

    too many good people here

Speaking of the Academy, and Robin, might it not be a good idea to have a weekly link to a thread in that section up in one of the more frequented sections? Newer members might have little or no idea of the treasures that are in there, and that might be a way to encourage a bit more exploration...

Here we go again... Dim light?

Yep, and that's in a populated area! Any luck on the rear light? Jeff

Here we go again... Dim light?

That sounds like a nice theory, but these days there are a lot of people that don't have a LHS, or the LHS does not carry what they want, or doesn't know how to support it, anyway. If you are lucky enough to have a LHS that can provide the service you need and want, supporting it is great, but...

Help me w/ DCC Specialties Auto Reverse Module

That's great news! I guess it must have been a bit 'sensitive'. Jeff

Here we go again... Dim light?

I guess it could have shorted out, but being current limited, I'm not sure that would burn it out. Have you tried resetting the decoder, in case there is somehow and odd special effect programmed in? Another thing you could try is putting a resistor across the output and seeing if there is...

Here we go again... Dim light?

What's the rear light, and what's it wored to? This could also be a programming thing.... Jeff

Here we go again... Dim light?

OK, here we go..... When you only light one lamp, is it bright enough? If so, I think you have two choices, and from what I can glean from the documentation, either should work.... Since it seems to be a current limiting supply, rather than a voltage, just wire them in series. Or, double the...

Here we go again... Dim light?

Are the lights in series or parallel when you hook them up? If in series, and the decoder is set up to put out 1.5 V, then they probably won't light if both are hooked up. I woul dbe surprised it the decoder can't drive both in parallel. And they are bulbs and not LEDs, right? Jeff

Simple question? Using a Lenz Decoder in DC mode.

My understanding is that that is usually the case. Some decoders have a CV that can be set to disable this ability. Jeff

It is hard to believe it is on a door! Whenever someone talks about door layouts as though they are 'toys' for beginners, I dig up that link. Watching the video, I can't believe it is a door! Jeff

Ok, so there is benchwork already in progess. And you don't have to build it. That changes everything! Is the benchwork going to be tables, ro an open grid? Is the helix part of the benchwork?. I might wait to think too much more until I see what there really is to work with.

    Loco question

I don't think there is anything wrong with them. They do have rapido couplers, so they are not a in demand by many people. I think LifeLike just built a lot of them. They will really pull.
