    Colorado Resources

Basalt RR There are many photos available at the Colorado History Museum also (not the Museum of Natural History). The Basalt yard was not huge, only 3 track yard, etc. There is a good photo of the yard and also track plan in an old "The Model Railroading Handbook". Not to promote any sales...

    Keystone Shay NWSL upgrade

Shay I had operating cylinder rods on my shay. None of the models have actual operating cylinders. Just the cylinder rods. I used the Keystoner crank, etc. as the model, then crafted crank out of brass, inserted brass bushings in the bottom of the cylinders and it works like a champ. With...

    Athearn Sold!

Horizon Mike, I agree with your 100% on the Horizon and the "Corporate" no human wanted issue. I have also delt with Horizon and was not pleased at all with the service. Also, they could care less about the mom and pop shops. Also, Horizon's new policy is they sell to only those with...

Horizon Hobby Distributors, the Death of Athearn

Small Shops DOG, I totally disagree with you on the "Bonified" shops. There are alot of small shops which operate from garages, etc. taxes paid and also keep open hours. This is also an investment for these people, as it is their income. So what if they don't want to build in a shopping...

Horizon Hobby Distributors, the Death of Athearn

Small Shops Dis-allowed Distribution I disagree with the statement about "Bonified" hobby shops. There are a lot of small Mom and Pop shops out there whl sell legitmately our of their garages, etc. For Horizon to ignore this segment of the market is not in the best interets of the hobby...

    Mantua 2-6-6-2 Articualted Logger

Correct Spelling 2-6-6-2 The proper spelling of the 2-6-6-2 is "Uintah". It is any Indian name. The Uintah ran through the northwest Colordo and northeaster Utah area. The Uintah haulded a type of mineral, I have forgotten the name of it. Hope this help clarifies things for you.:) Marc

Horizon Hobby Distributors, the Death of Athearn

All, For those whom haven't heard the sad news, Horizon Hobby Distributors (the RC guys) have purchased Athearn. Their policy now is not to sell to any other distributor and all hobby shops must have a storefront operation to be able to purchase Athearn items. Just another way to shut down...

    Keystone Shay NWSL upgrade

Keystone Shay Jeff, Yes, the small open frame motor that came with the power kit from NWSL seemed to be no more than the little motor used by Heljan to power one of their small animations. Not much power or torque. I bashed a Keystone into a small Dunkirk. The owner of Keystone was nice...

N Scale Mountain Just as note. Judging from the picture, this is not a mountain, but a Mikado. which has the wheel arrangement of 2-8-2. A mountain is a 4-8-2, Berkshire 2-8-4. :thumb: Marc
