I have several 60' runs and am running #10 wire to power my feeders.Digitrax Chief is my command station and once in a while was having problems and fon=und the problems were due to inductance.Went to radio shack and bought Ferrit bead Inductors and that solved all the problems.

That isn't a reverse loop,so you are cool.

Steve,either one of those decoders will work.As for wich way it plugs in ,you can see which color wire is on the end and match that up.It will work either way you plug it in,but may run backwards one way.I suggest just plug it in and see if it runs the right direction and the lights work...

I think 14 gauge wire is good enough.I just happened to have 10 gauge romex house wire laying in the garage,so that is what i used.I,ve got a 16x16 layout and with this settup and droppers every 6' i have little to no voltage drop.

The longer the run of wire the more voltage drop,so if you have 50 or 60 feet of 18 gauge wire,you start with 14 volts by the time you get to the end of the run you might only have 11.5 volts.This is a fair amount of voltage drop ,so the bigger the gauge of buss wire you run the less amount of...
