    Consist, how long?---

OK everybody, your right, this was not the place to use the word "average". Way too many variables. Some of you have good sized layouts, like most of a basement, so I guess that is what I was using as a rough guideline. Iv'e noticed that I don't have enough cars to even affect my GP30's...

    Consist, how long?---

There have been a number of threads, with info and questions on the proper weight for the cars and engines. Some of the more advanced modelers have added weight to their engines to gain more traction and pulling power. Now, keeping in mind that there is a great variation in the size of...

    Starting my layout!

Just a suggestion. I'm running on two ovals at present while waiting to clear an area for a layout. The inner oval ends are 18" radius and the larger is 22" curves. I have the straight sections just short of three inches apart on one side so that trains run next to each other briefly. Looks good...

    How's the smoke work?

Glenn---seems like i can remember seeing model trains with the smoke and it does not look protypical at all. If someone came up with a smoke generation system that did look realistic, you are right , it would get all over everything, the layout would be covered with some sort of residue and the...

    How's the smoke work?

On the steam engines, when they are listed for smoke and sounds, how is the smokestack different? I assume it is lined or insulated and deeper. Is there a small coil of material or pellet that can be lit and dropped in? Iv'e seen the "smoke oil" mentioned, how does it work? How hard is it to...

    weathering made easy---

Loren-----I'll try and get some posted. Camera works fine, Wife and I both have many pics in the computer, but I have a hard time trying to get them to print on a thread on the Forum. I'll keep trying---- It is easy and really makes a difference. Iv'e done it on the tops of...

    weathering made easy---

As Iv'e said before, been using Testers model paints for years on my RC boats and other projects, but I have gotten some great ideas from you guys in recent threads on the subject of weathering. Iv'e got a bottle of Neolube on the way and want to try the chalks or weathering powders next, but...

    The "Y"

Your right, this is a problem. I'm also assuming that all this is landscaped already. Don't know if I can come up with a plan, but I want to study it awhile----John R

    The "Y"

Skammer----I'm assuming then that your layout is not continuous? You can not go all the way around non-stop ? No loop at one end or the other? Post a diagram of your layout and I'll bet someone can come up with a "y" or maybe a loop---- John R

    The "Y"

Thanks Buddy, I thought thats how it worked , but I wasn't sure. I wonder if anyone has put one of these on a layout? Don't remember seeing it done. John R
