    Track Plans Z to O

The software used is Atlas RightTrack 5.0. Its compressed to fit on this site thats why the foot lines are not square. But you can make your plans for different sizes of scale from 1:1 to 1:100 (which is pretty small) i like the ratio 1:31 which fits in an 8.5 x 11.5 format for this HO scale...

    Laying Track

Homasote? Well in Canada its called epson board, i don't know why. i really don't think its the same stuff. But homasote is not sold where i live. Epson board is chipped wood. And personally, i don't like it. Here we use plywood or pine for roadbed and cork on top. Sometimes foam in the...

i did the same in the 60's with my Aurora set. Today i have 4 sets, the Aurora and 3 Tyco. i have the track adapter to join the Aurora. The kids liked the roadrace set more than the train, the speed i didn't incorporate the race set in the 90s because of the scale. Race set is 1:72 maybe a...

How are you using fiber optics?

    1. U can use one light source with many strands grouped together than spreading out to where u want them. Or u can use multiple light sources around the layout. i know a 25 watt bulb makes a good light source. U can use 12 volt bulbs to, for example, adding ditch lights in older athern engines...

    Simulated Telegraph Wire in "HO"

i painted my conductors, i remember them as a child out at the farm, and i remember they made good target practice for some. i use regular black thread and a little hoop around each insulator. Dick Elwell of the Hoosac Valley Railroad did a masterful job for his power lines, yet he worked on...

    2" Foam?

Just like balasting track. Its glued. But some warm water on a sponge will realease the track. Than u can wash the track off later. i only use the foam for scenery but there is a video out there by Woodland Scenics that shows how to use foam. i only used dynamite on my plaster and mesh mountain...

    New type of L.E.D.....WHITE!!!

Right on Andy i haven't used them yet, but alot of modelers use fiber optics. U can light alot of scenery with a 15 watt incandesant bulb and the fibers. They are also very inexpensive. Some modelers have run them into there model cars for headlights and street lights. Many articles have been...

Extra Guard Rails, do you use them, and where.

Don't quote me, but those extra rails on certain crossings were a safety feature to keep the ties in place. On my layout they are for cosmetic purpose ownly.
