    DNs USS Oregon?

Hello All, Slowly but surely the progress continues. Here is the start of the Flying Bridge. I hope to have the rest of the deck vents done today and perhaps a few more of the 8 inch gun mounts. The wife is out of town on business so I can do some serious work... Glen

I'm glad to hear you got the problems fixed. I have been using printouts from two different occasions (my first attempt also) but I have to be careful. One was done on best quality and the other on normal. Hard to see in pictures, I can spot it in an instant. :) Thank you all for the...

I don't recall any fit problems but I will see if I have any detail pictures in that area just to make sure. Are you going for the full build, or the "just before scrapping" look? If you are fitting out the deck watch for part number discrepencys. :? Glen

Thank you everyone! I really appreciate the kind words. I am really enjoying the build the second time around. AJ, I printed the model out on 110lb index for the hull plates and 20lb for the understrips. The design is excellent and the hull plates are very well supported. I was looking at...

    DNs USS Oregon?

If I understand your question correctly, I put the bulkhead frames centered on the lines. I built the upper (above the waterline) section first and then matched the lower sections after that. Makes for a very strong hull when finished. Glen

    DNs USS Oregon?

I try to cut on the line or as close as possible. At my advanced age (the milage not years) a set of magnifying glasses helps. Fortunately paper seems to be just the thing for this stuff. I can go along the seam and "tack weld" one part to another, then go back and finish the seam. I am...

Thank you A.J., Lots of new Xacto blades. I change the blade whenever I feel a drag on the cut. As for the color, I have several colors of gray fine point markers, and for the red sections of hull plating the closest match was actually a reddish orange pen. I am using CA to make most of the...

Thanks Barry and Steve, I am using 1/16 inch brass eyelets for the portholes, from the local scrapbooking store. I have a 1/16 inch paper punch that I make the inital hole with and then a tool to finish the eyelets. I really like the way they look but only come in sets of 175 in 6 different...
