Yep! just like to help out. You should check out the most Recent model railroader, it has comparisons for most DCC starter sets out there. Its worth a look It looks like the superchief set does have a walk around throttle. The only difference is that the premium is radio equipped. The regular...

I hate to keep shoot more at you then, but seriously, avoid giving advice on things unless you have the knowledge to back it up. As far as running a DC loco with a DCC system, you will break your system or your DC loco. DCC runs off of Alternating Current (AC) power, which is incompatible...

I'll just answer in a list cause thats how I roll! I'm trying to get organized, lol 1. No. While all decoders are able to work with all other DCC systems, individual DCC systems don't work with eachother. 2. The Super Chief is capable of handling 5 amps, but it does not have its own power...

Well, i've started work on my Married pair of Arrow III EMUs. I've also painted them with stainless steel metalizer. they are almost mirror like on the sides, which is exactly how the prototype is. Right now i'm trying to figure out how best to apply my decals. I'm going to have to cut up and...

Building and Kitbashing a Walthers Cornerstone Refinery

Yeah, i have one of these refiniries unbuilt still. The refinery and an Automobile transfer facility (love autoracks) are hopefully going to be the big industries on my new addition if i build in the freight direction (parts of me are still leaning towards a commuter/NEC layout. IS ther no...

but you see, thats the point i'm trying to make. You need to look up other systems. bachmann isn't the only answer. besides, dynamis costs $300 NCE power cab costs $185 or less, has more functions, and provides only slightly less current (dynamis provides 2.3 amps, while Powercab provides...

The best system you can get is NCE powercab. when you check it against comparably priced systems, it wins hands down. In fact, it beats out most other higher priced sets, and it was a walk around throttle already. I've used the Powercab myself, and if i hadn't already bough the Prodigy Express...

yeah, only a few prototype electrics had all power going from the overhead wire. Great northern was one that did so at first. Also, B&O had a small electric switcher that ran on a pair of overhead rails in the late 1800/early 1900s. It didn't really work out that well and was taken down...

I suppose it might be possible if you have some sort of rectifier in the locomotive, but without lots of indepth modification, No. When you switch your electric locomotives over to pantograph operation, it appears that the pans pick up one polairty, but ALL the wheels pick up the other...

    Weekly Photo Fun 10-3

Thank you! Actually, right now, they aren't very tight. It is only one segment, and as you can see, the one catenary support was leaning. I've straightened it out, but nothing is solidly mounted until i get A few more bridges/crosspans done, just so that if i need to make any changes, its...

Fair enough! I to love the tank car trains! Traction? We're talking Heavy Electrics here, lol! In reality, its not to difficult once you have the parts to it all (and a jig helps). It might be worth a shot if you have spare rail laying around and some sturdy wire.

    G.E.C's layout pictures

yeah, i'm past 60 now. I need a new layout! I figured! Again, it looks like we're switching, lol. I plan on trying to get some C40-8/-8Ws in the future, and except for the order of GP15-1s, all my recent Freight locomotives have been 6 axled! The new commuter equipment stems the tide a...

Well, as promised, pictures! First, some shots of my E44 under the wire! If it looks like the catenary pole is leaning, blame it on Penn Central's bad maitenance! Also, the three new models! first, my Single Arrow III EMU. I have a Married pair kit i need to build still (basically...
