    wayfreight cards

I use 4 Cycle Car Cards & Waybills to operate my N Scale Ashley Drew & Northern. I downloaded Dave Husman's Car Card Generator Version 3.43 Access Database from the Yahoo Car Cards Operations Group. It's a nice program and it is free. You can set up your cards, industries...

The Ashley, Drew & Northern Railway Company

There are actually 2 wyes. There is the Shop Wye and the wye that leads to the throat of the staginig yard. That one allows trains to enter and exit the layout in both directions. The wyes are very handy.

How this ops newbee is staging for switching

Good job with the visual, Ralph. It's cool to see that you figured this out, I remember you discussing it earlier. Another twist that could be added is to leave the cars unblocked in staging. I could see it happening as a result of the crew back up the line running out of time and just...

    Operational Staging on the AD&N

What I want to avoid is gridlock from simply having too many cars on the layout. I want interesting and challenging operations on my layout, but I realize that at my current level of skill it will not take a lot to challenge me. I figure that I will build up a step at a time and learn as I go...

    Operational Staging on the AD&N

The staging yard is completed and wired. I cleared all cars off of the layout and staged 4 trains with cars. I am going to cycle the trains onto the layout and switch the cars in and out of the mills as a way of "seeding" the layout. I plan on working through a couple of sessions with things...

    Hodge-Podge

I assume that the black is the mainline. I think that the side that is the right in one picture and the top in the other, the one with the diamond is no problem to work. The other ide is a little confusing to me, but that may be because I do not understand your intent. What is the...

    Operational Staging on the AD&N

Ralph, By working the interchange, I meant that the trains will pick up and drop of cars at the Crossett interchange and Front Yard only. An AD&N switcher will pick up cars bound for the mills from the interchange and probably take them to the yard for classification. The other three roads...

    Operational Staging on the AD&N

Starting operations on Phase I of my layout has pointed out to me the importance of having somewhere for trains to come from and go to. I have been trying to figure out how traffic would flow in and out of my mills. I'm working on setting up my car cards & waybills so that they work in a logical...
