The start of my Camas Prairie based layout.

Well all the roadbed and track is down! All thats left is adding the ground throws and finishing some of the roadbed under the switches. Here is a shot toward the sawmill area. This is a shot with the 4th sub branch to Headquarters on the left. The spur to the right is going to be a oil...

Where are the Great Young Model Railroaders?

Couldn't disagree with you more. I went to a local train show recently and was amazed at the number of younger people there, not only checking it out but buying and selling as well. Sure not as many as the older crowd but when it comes to a hobby like this you've really got to stop and ask...

Where are the Great Young Model Railroaders?

Our PBS stopped running Tracks Ahead:cry: I am only 28 but with a full time job and 2 kids under 3 it is very hard to find time for the hobby. Doesn't mean Im not dreaming and planning for future grandeur but for now a small shelf layout will have to suffice.

The start of my Camas Prairie based layout.

Another quick update. Got the layout mostly cleaned off and started on the rest of the roadbed/trackwork. The riser is where its going to start climbing for the future logging branch or Headquarters line on the prototype. Last picture shows 2 of the 3 overhead lights installed. Amazing how...

Stripping/Repainting Engines & Front Range Quality?

Does anyone know if the Front Range shell will fit over a Proto 2000 frame and motor? BTW: Just won a brand new, never opened Proto 2000 GP9 decorated for Reading on eBay for $35!! Looks like I'll be stripping it and painting my first engine!

Stripping/Repainting Engines & Front Range Quality?

Well I've almost given up on someone releasing a model of a BN GP9 in HO. I have been trying to find a undec. Proto 2000 engine with no luck ( for less then $125!). So I've narrowed it down to 2 choices. 1. Buy a GP9 off eBay decorated for a less common and not in demand roadname and...

Alright, here's a few to get started. This is a example of the log bunk cars I am going to be building based off the prototype's on the Camas Prairie in North Idaho. The bunks are just set on there so you can see what it will look like, then just paint and small details left:thumb: Here are...

Thought since this section is kinda dead lately we should start a thread where you can post all of your equipment specific to this forum. Whether it be rolling stock, a unique or scratchbuilt industry, or a custom locomotive. Basically anything you don't see in model photo's every day of the...

The start of my Camas Prairie based layout.

Thanks, its just hard with the cold weather we've had and the fact we have to babies under 3yrs that can't go out with me. I haven't found what lights to use yet. Want to use some kind of small, natural light fluorescent. Any suggestions? I've seen some that people are using that are $50+...
