anybody heard of a caboose bell?

This is just a guess; but I would say that perhaps some cabeese were equipped with bells if they had much occasion to be on the head end of a train operating on a branch line with no turning facilities. I know that, even today and especially on tourist roads, there are cabeese and some coaches...

Anyone seen or heard from Val (Spitfire) lately?

Val has a new post down in the Real Thing (Canada) area today.

    Toronto Go Trains.

Great pix. Reminds me of my visit to much of the same area last November when I was in town. I took some pix, too, but nothing as good as yours. Let's have more.

    Coupler advice needed!

Well, ya learn sumpin' every day, I guess; but I'd like to know more. I never heard of Sargent couplers until reading this thread. Just for curiosity's sake, would someone please tell me a bit about them? Thanks in advance.

    George's Trains Expands!

Thanks to those who "located" Railview for me. Perhaps the next time I'm in Toronto, I can run out there, just to see what it's like. Sounds like it's a little farther out from center city than I usually get, but there's no reason I coudn't make the effort, especially to see if I might just...

    George's Trains Expands!

As an occasional visitor to Toronto (once or twice a year), I have actually been to George's Trains. I had not even heard of Railview Trains, however. As a matter of curiosity, where is it located?

How did you get into the hobby?

After, the "Christmas Tree Oval" period, I had a fairly extensive Lionel layout in my parent's basement when I was growing up. Eventually, I went away to college and then into the Air Force, and my interest waned somewhat (although never really went away). After my military service, I settled...

    Horseshoe curve

I would say it's well worth going to, if you are in the area and have a couple of hours to spare. A lot would depend on how far you have to go to get there. For example, I have been there at least twice, and would go again if the opportunity arose. I am a couple of hundred or more miles away...

    Interesting Sighting

Here I go with duplicate posts again. Sorry. I think the problem is that I simply clicked too many times. Too impatient, I guess.

    Interesting Sighting

The Chinese steamers were used on a least a couple of excursions a few months ago, as I understand the situation. The owner (whether it is IAIS or someone else, I'm not sure) also have options on some more. The intent, or so I have heard, is to resell them to other lines for excursion purposes.

    Interesting Sighting

The two Chinese steamers were tried out a few months ago on a cople of trips, I believe, and the IAIS, or whoever actually owns them, has options on several more. The intent, as I have heard, is to resell them to other lines for excursion use.

    Crewless trains on KCS

Interesting. I have, of course, heard about remote control locomotives for some time; but COMPLETELY CREWLESS -- Wow! Sure takes some of the romance out of railroading, doesn't it?

    Happy Christmas all

Sorry for the duplicate postings, but couldn't figure out how to get rid of them. Maybe somebody smarter than me (like a mod) can take care of it.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to all. I think "Black Friday" has been around for a few years; but I wasn't sure until I heard on the radio yesterday just what it meant.

Glad that Play-Doh finally got to "meet" a caboose. May you meet many more.
