    Benchwork: Correcting Warped Lumber

The plywood method that was mentioned by BikerDad , Andrew and Dave would be very cost effective IMO . I haven't tried it myself because I was satisfied with my other methods . Ripping a 4x8 sheet of 1/2" or 3/4" plywood wood require a good table saw and a couple of people to keep everything...

    Benchwork: Correcting Warped Lumber

We have Home 'Despot' as Val calls it but no Lowes ( that I know of ) in Canada . Where I got my good wood was Rona ( used to be Building Box ) but I believe they are only situated in Canada , eh ? I use pine and discard the slightly curved pieces at the store ...there were plenty of straights...

    Benchwork: Correcting Warped Lumber

I suffered from ' green ' wood early on and found that straight , dried , wood , while more expensive , was worth the extra cost because of virtually no wasteage and no headaches .I'm talking 1x4's , 1x2's and 2x2's which are all that are needed . If assembled properly , L-girder style , they...

    CN On Strike

A thorny issue that one could discuss for months and we would be no further ahead . I've worked on both sides .....the last 15 non-union . I prefer it that way but it is simply a personal preference . Probably 90% of my customers are union employees so I have to be cognizant of their various...

    More: Are we merely stereotypes

Ray M.'s remark about George Bush has led me to wonder ....has there ever been a U.S. President who was an active mrrer ? Or admitted as such ? Just curious . Heck , I'd have voted for him just for that ! Of course , being Canadian I can't vote over there anyhow ....... Neil

    Have We Become Merely Stereotypes?

Since getting back into this great hobby , virtually all of the folks I've met in person and on line are pretty laid-back types . Not full of themselves . I like it that way . No , I don't ( would NEVER ) live with my Mother ....rather a great wife and 2 Pugs . I think as we get older we tend to...

    December 2004 Model Railroader

I visited with Ken McCrorry in September as part of a convention layout tour . Ken's layout is magnificent to say the least . Huge . Gigantic . It took a consist of 4 locos and about 75 cars one half hour to complete one lap of the mainline . The layout and ' trainroom / gymnasium/auditorium /...
