I can do that, I was also thinking of maybe creating my own little arches, i did some measuring and i'm going to the hobby shop tmrw to see if they have any of these bridges.
I'm using 4% risers but i don't have them all in place, i've left off the 4th section of riser so i think it's about 3"...
The dirt idea sounds great we have some sandy dirt here in south jersey i have to build a little electro magnet to remove metal from it.
I've been thumbing through the walthers catalog and i found the arch span bridge set that goes for 20.50 and its 18-5/8ths inches long. It looks perfect. and...
That is a great idea :) you know who makes the 2 track length bridge? I've soldered one end of that rail i wonder how hard it would be to desolder it... Yeah i think it's coming out really well thanks to you and others who've helped!!!:thumb:
i've got a gallon of tanish brown (picked...
I took yoru advice and gapped the tracks this way. i put .015" to .30" (my crappy track laying skills hehe) styrene in between the little gaps in the track to prevent them from touching. is .015" wide enough to prevent a short?
I've added the raised section of the bridge, i've also redrawn the layout schematics. I'm running into a couple of planning snafu's though:
1) The control panel: I was going to use atlas momentary switches but i don't know how i would keep track of which switch operated what turnout, I...
Perfect, thank you!! I previously only selected the top level of each of the forums i didn't want. I selected all the sub forums this time and it works much better that way.
Thanks for that tip, that is a really good idea. I have some peco turnouts that i'm going to use for my yards, and i'm going to paint them before i lay them down, i'm learning there are quite a few things that should be done before one glues their track down w/ industrial strength adhesives...
Recently when i click "new posts" i've been getting more new posts from all the other forums i don't read. I'd like to limit (or create my own) new post search to only search w/in the gauge section of the site, any tips?
I have a couple different brands of switch machines but they all seem to send instructions that make the assumption me, the end user, has some clue as to what i'm doing.
:)
Could someone take a picture of their setup (or point me to a place on teh web w/ pictures) of a tenshodo, peco, or...
Hmm o.k. i'm going to take a stab at this .. i'm not an expert yet but i've been doing alllooooot of reading since i've started w/ the trains :) oh and i stayed at a holiday inn once hehe.
There are things like the snapper (link) and other capacitance discharge devices that will send a high...
Snap relays are exactly like switch machines, they use the same solenoid and require the same voltage. They are powered by the ac accessory terminal on your power supply.
Here is a thread w/ great info about atlas snap relays in specific.

I was out in long island for a family event and the place we stayed was 2 feet from a trian station, actually the last train station on the island :). I got lucky and snapped off a couple shots of the loco and cars from abotu 20 to 30 feet away.

I was a sucker i clicked the link .. even though i really should know better :).
I liked some of the image he had posted though downloaded a couple of them to my computer no ill effect so far, but i'm not advocating clicking on the link .. honestly i really should have known better .
The rail removal idea is elegantly simple :). I'm going to get a couple more of those bridges and send you an update when i put them in place. Thanks!!!!
This recent thread by Biased Turkey helped me:

I've just layed and glued the last set of risers using liquid nails, and plan to lay the track tmrw using clear latex calk. An interesting side effect of using caulk is that it soaks up a little noise. When i test...
