    Soundtraxx and LEDs

LEDs with a resistor and a diode are fine to use. The problem is that the voltage leaks through the functions as LEDs ar sensitive bulbs don't pick this voltage up. The LED will also 'blink' with speed steps. Bulbs will not. The diode with the resistor blocks the voltage from getting to the...

I just cant figure it out

Try looking at the wheel sets for cracked spur gears on the axles or a slipping main gear to the motor shaft. It looks like an old Lionel FA2 after they sold the Fundemensions Line.

    Slow Speed

Changing CV5 to 0 is fine but that takes the top speed voltage cap off of the CV. Next time put it on the Programming track and read what is in CV5. Then you can adjust it up to raise the top speed. This CV controls the voltage to the motor at the full top throttle speed step. Putting a...

    Atlas Loco DCC decoders

Why don't you care about the Programming Track? This is a very useful tool. When you install a decoder in the loco, it will test your installation without blowing it out like on Ops or POM mode. This is because it uses less power to do so. So you don't get the full 14VAC going right to the...

    telephone pole wires

You don't need CA. Just a dab of ordinary Acetone or nail polish remover will melt the plastic long enough to bond the spandex thread to it. I have seen this used and it holds up pretty well. It's won't sag if you put a little tension on it while gluing it. Spandex thread expands 20 times...

    Coupler advice needed!

I like the way the Sargent's look and work. To bad they won't couple with Kadee's. I mostly #58 scale couplers. They won't even couple with those. I suppose you could use a transision car. The Sargents are good for contest models to.

    Question of the year, 2007

This winter I plan on building my helix and getting the top and bottom levels of my layout at least connected. I can then build the staging yard and the rest of the top level branch line. At least that's the plan. ;) As for the rest of 2007, we'll have to see how this winter goes first.

    Which way is forward?

US Federal Law requires one end of a double ended control cab unit to be designated "F" or front. GG1, RDC and the many double ended electrics of the New Haven railroad had to have one end designated as front. This is indicated by a small 'F' on the designated end. This was also true for GP...
