Remember, If you are going to put the railroad into' Power Districts' or signalling down the road, now is the best time to use insulators to isolate them. With 'dead frog' turnouts you can put the feeders anywhere along the outside rails. It will still get the power to where it needs to go with...
Since I model a specific prototype, I used the train symbols they used for my trains. But you can adopt from the prototype to suit your needs.
The New Haven had a simple Alpha/numeric system. Each letterin the alphabet represents a Town/Yard on the railroad. The numerals indicated the...
You can use a NCE DA-SR, TCS T1 or just about any other hard wired decoder. I used the TCS T1 and the NCE DA- SR. I have 4 of the RS-2's. I personally like to remove the P1K board and hard wire it. I just find it easier to do but that's me. There is also enough room for a Soundtraxx DSD Alco...
This is right out off the BLI web site:
"DC Sound-Equipped, DCC Ready.
DCC users can quickly and easily install their favorite DCC decoders into the included plug 'n' play socket. This allows for both sound and operation control of the loco."
Plug in your favorite decoder and away you go...
You can always use a Kadee coupler spring and bend out the spring ends. Cut off the excess near the hole and screw them to one side of the truck bolster, Then make the spring arms into 'wipers' on the back of each wheel on one truck. This should act as a brake.
Take it from someone who works in a prison, These are not the sharpest knives in the drawer folks. Dumb as toast. This is how it should end. With these dopes behind bars.
That's because most railroads 'limed' the cars after use for sanitation. It stained the wood white anyway so CN and a few American railroad did the same.
I like them. I have done over a dozen of many types. The tank cars can be a bugger. I only have 51 more to do. And Branchline, and Tichy, and Eastern Car Works, and .......
Try switching the speaker wires. Do you have the speaker in an enclosure? That helps a bunch. I took out the Bachmann board and hard wired the Tsunami in the tender. I used a meter set to conyinuity to check the wiresto where they went. The 2 pin connector it;s Red Left Rail, Black-Right...
I've used it to glue down ballast since 1976. It dries flat and holds well. I dilute it 50/50 with water and a drop of dish soap to let it flow better.
Of course, water and DC or DCC don't mix so let the area dry completely. A friend of mine used his DCC system with a damp area and trains...
Russel does this say "Equipped with Quick Plug DCC technology" on the box somewhere? If that is the case then your engine does NOT have a decoder in it. It has what's called a JST 9 pin plug only. There is a small electronics board plugged into it to let it run on regular DC. You have to buy...
I ran an engine there last year. A friend of mine is an engineer for the SL&RG. Really beautiful area. The steam engine turn aound track is still there but the ends are not connected to the main line anymore, They are actually curled up and stickin in the air! We saw 2 large herds of elk up...
Coming Back to Denver stop at Golden and the Colorado Railway Museum.
http://www.crrm.org/
And Coors it right next door. http://www.coors.com/
The Forney Trnasportation Museum in Denver. They've got Big Boy 4005 and a couple other engines. A lot of old vintage cars and trucks...
When anyone posts a question about DCC, and specifically engines, please tell us what scale, who made it and what model it is. It makes it easier to answer to the correct scale. Some guys model mostly HO and N but it's nice to know the difference because these models differ in the way DCC is...
Hugh!, I thought I responded to this. Anyway, I model the New Haven RR in the 1948-1954 era. There was such a variety of paint schemes and engines that I couldn't resist. As most steam on the New Haven was gone by 1952. I had to incorporate steam into my operations as I already have quite a...
Russell,
When you place a DC engine on a DCC track it buzzes because there is no decoder in it OR there is plug which need to be turned around to make go to DCC like ATLAS decoders.
"DCC ready" usually means there is no decoder in it but the engine can have one put in it "supposedly'...
