Better Modeling with Meta/Pep/P.N – Tutorial 1: Introduction

Hey! It works! Thanks. I used to use the shareware version of 2.4.8. The boolean ops are not available (it won't even appear in the menu). The boolean ops are provided by a plug-in. According to the feature checklist in the META site, plug-ins are disabled in the shareware version of...

Better Modeling with Meta/Pep/P.N – Tutorial 1: Introduction

Hey it works! Thanks. :) But you're right, it does 'reset' after you do the rotate. Very frustrating. :(

Better Modeling with Meta/Pep/P.N – Tutorial 1: Introduction

I tried playing around with the "LOCAL" button too thinking that it would do the trick. But after struggling for an hour and even trying to decipher the Japanese user's manual with my meager nihongo skills, I gave up. :( I guess manual alignment is the best way.

Better Modeling with Meta/Pep/P.N – Tutorial 1: Introduction

Hi, Is there a way in META to change the pivot point of an object during rotation? Let's say I want to cut a door on the side of a fuselage. First, I use a knife tool to cut the door's outline. Then, I select the faces that comprise the door. Now, I want to swivel the door open. Normally, if...

The moment you open your model file (MQO?) in Pepakura, you're going to get a status display message. That where you probably saw that message saying that there were too many faces, etc. In that same status message, you may also get something like, "4 faces discarded, 2 vertices discarded".

Nah.... you can safely ignore that warning. I got the same warning on my model and it unfolded in a flash. I think that warning is only for very low end PC's. Anyway, did Pepakura also discard any vertices or faces in your model?

Better Modeling with Meta/Pep/P.N – Tutorial 1: Introduction

Very nice! I have a question: Are the wings, rudder, elevator, etc. attached to the main fuselage as one object? Or did you design them to be separate objects?

Better Modeling with Meta/Pep/P.N – Tutorial 1: Introduction

After playing around with meta's mapping tool, I've come up with this: Create a new texture. On the new texture dialog/properties, assign a filename to the bitmap to use. Make sure that the bitmap has not yet been created. Apply the new texture onto your object. Fix the orientation...

Better Modeling with Meta/Pep/P.N – Tutorial 1: Introduction

Yep, I'm having problem "a". I created a fuselage, and tried applying a texture using the cylinder mapping mode. Everything turned out pretty well until I started painting the insignias on the textures as part of the 'finishing touches', hehehe. That's when I noticed the severe stretching...

Hi, How can I determine what bitmap dimension I have to use to prevent uneven stretching when it becomes mapped on to my object? Thanks! Eric

Better Modeling with Meta/Pep/P.N – Tutorial 1: Introduction

Thanks for the information. :) The two tips worked! RE: Registered version Oh, I'm currently playing around with the shareware version of Meta since it still allows me to use UV mapping. The MQO only format is not an issue since I only use pepakura. Unfortunately, that menu you mentioned...

Better Modeling with Meta/Pep/P.N – Tutorial 1: Introduction

Hi, Some questions regarding Metasequoia: (1) How do I cut an object into two separate objects? For instance, if I create a cylinder, then I knife the cylinder in the center. How do I break up that cylinder into two separate objects at the part that I knifed? (2) How do I do a 'cookie...

Better Modeling with Meta/Pep/P.N – Tutorial 1: Introduction

Just fooling around... Using what I've learned from Jay's tutorial, I went to my favorite site -- Luft'46 and picked a relatively simple but nice looking model: the ME P.1110 "Ente" (Duck). After wrestling with Pepakura, I printed out my pattern on paper. This is what I ended up with...

    Building the GPM ME262 Schwalbe

By the way, thanks also for sharing pictures of your canopy vacuforming. I've been meaning to try that too but my wife refused to allow me to stick plastic sheets in the oven toaster. Hehehe... I didn't know it was okay to use candles. Won't the candles leave a black film on the plastic? :)

    mostly off topic-electric bill

You guys are lucky. My monthly electricity bill averages at 5000PHP (~100US$). On weekdays, I leave home at 7AM and get back at 8PM. During that time, only the refrigerator is running. I do switch on my 1HP A/C unit at night for roughly 6 hours (timer).
