    Minor DCC problem

Basic consisting is giving the decoders the same address. Advanced consisting is where you use decoders with different addresses.

    Minor DCC problem

If you're using two decoders, but hardwiring them as one, that is probably your problem. Use "basic consisting;" that is, give the two decoders the same address. That way, though you won't have quite as good pickup for each one, you won't have the problem with the DCC detection anymore.

    Goodbye to the V&O

Run stuff everywhere AND THEN SOME? Where exactly is this new layout? It's been two more years since the last update, think they're just about "done" with their current plan? If they're close enough to me, I might just drop by one day to haul a nice long freight!

    Minor DCC problem

Just re-enter the loco's address on your DCC command station. I find that my locos often get "forgotten" and I have to re-select them even if their number is still on the screen. And this is with a Zephyr!

To DCC or Not To DCC...that is the question.

Will, you mean the DZ1X3 series? I'd go with the Zephyr (erm. I DID go with the Zephyr lol) to start, it's $200. Then get yourself a DT400R when you have the money ($220 or so!). Also, a DB150 isn't a half bad idea either, it's an 8-amp booster (I think? Either that or 5 amps).

    Atlas Loco DCC decoders

Someone said "If it's the Atlas DMD, then yes." I installed one of those into my (old) Atlas SD24. The Zephyr DOES NOT recognize it except to make it go. I used a 1k resistor. I used a BIGGER resistor. I SHORTED THE TRACK (d'oh) with an even bigger resistor. Still never read the *nngh*...

    FX with DCS50 and DZ143P0

FX with DCS50 and DZ123PS Hai guyz! Um. Anyways, here's my issue. I have a DZ123PS decoder in my HO (lol...) Kato SD45. I am trying to make the loco's front headlight do a Mars light effect when I activate F3, which I have used my DCS50's option switch 6 to make a latched function. The...

Just bought an old Rivarossi FEF-3 (#8444)

Yeah, the old Rivarossis could HAUL. My Big Boy, 36 NMRA standard 50' boxes at a steady speed of about 40 scale MPH, up and down hills. The FEF-3 is too new to say. I haven't had a chance to actually really test it. Does anyone have an answer on the traction tires?

Just bought an old Rivarossi FEF-3 (#8444)

Fixed it, I just hadn't tightened the screw well enough. I think the previous owner may have messed up when taking it apart and putting it back together. Are both traction tires supposed to be on the same side? sign1

Just bought an old Rivarossi FEF-3 (#8444)

I'm having troubles with it. The drive rods on the right side will not stay attached and every once in a while the wheels jam when the drive rod screw gets stuck. How can I fix this without risking locking it up permanently?

    Bachmann diesels...good deal?

The Kato SD45 is, IMO, much more sharp on its details and is just as "handleable" as the Bachmann (I have a Kato). However, I do not actually have any Bachmann diesels (YET), so I'm no expert lol. I'm just going by looking at the Spectrum one in its box and having a Kato in its box right next...

    Bachmann diesels...good deal?

Also, Bachmann moved the GP30 to their PLUS line, not to their standard.

    Atlas turnout jumping problem

Doesn't seem possible as I think Athearn used RP25 flanges. Maybe on code 70, but not on 83. I just use code 100 anyways because I do have one of those ancient Rivarossi Big Boys lol...
