    Copper Ridge Railway (version 2.0)

Yeah, Judy, I kinda like the 2x4 module idea, myself. In fact, I have sort of a plan to expand the layout in the future, if I can obtain some more space. The little bumper in the upper-right corner can be removed and replaced with a connector to another 2x4 module. One idea I had was to...

    N Scale Road Lines

I used heavily watered down plaster. It wasn't very easy to work with, though, and I will probably not use that exact method again. One of the problems I had was with levelling the road. I probably didn't make it watery enough. I thought I could fix one of the low spots by pouring in more...

    Copper Ridge Railway (version 2.0)

Below is a picture of the current state of the layout. I've laid most of the roadbed (Woodland Scenics). I used a combination of insulating foam, packing foam, packing foam peanuts, Great Stuff foam, a Woodland Scenics foam incline (3%), and a little piece of cardboard to construct the...

    Copper Ridge Railway (version 2.0)

Greetings, everyone! I don't get around to posting as much as I used to (I still lurk when I get time). I've been very busy with various projects, but I have started construction on a new layout, the Copper Ridge Railway (version 2.0). The CRRy 2.0 is the successor to the original Copper...

    N Scale Road Lines

I used a set of gel pens that I got at Walmart to draw in the road stripes on one of my old layouts. I think it was maybe Robin who suggested it to me...or was it Charlie? Or maybe Tyson? Well, at any rate, it was someone here on The Gauge. I think I made each stripe 6 scale feet long, which...

    Couple dilema

I have about half and half right now (with a couple of engines that have Kato knuckle couplers). I've been converting them over little-by-little when I have money and time (and when I can find the couplers I need). I have currently have one interface car, and one of my engines (SW9/1200) has a...

    Secret City Scenic Excursion Train

Woohoo! Well, I guess as Yardmaster of the Week, I've already learned to keep my yellow bay window cabooses around the yard and let the red ones go out on the long hauls!

    Secret City Scenic Excursion Train

Oh...yeah...sorry... :( I guess I wasn't quite awake when I read that! Was it something to do with where the caboose worked? Like on a branchline or something?

    Secret City Scenic Excursion Train

OK, I'll bite... I either read, dreamed or made up that they made the bay windows because freight cars were getting taller and they couldn't see over them with the standard height cupola cabooses. I guess they couldn't make the cabooses higher because they'd run into things?

    Challenger visits Crockett, TX

I finally got my digital camera back from repair and was able to retrieve the photos I took when my son and I went to see the Challenger as it was returning from the Super Bowl. Here is a link to the gallery... http://web.wt.net/~glasgow/Challenger/index.htm

    Sitting in the CAT/BIRD seat???!!!

Tyson, Cats are very flexible. You can stretch them out a good bit from their "normal" size. Next time you see one, grab it by the tail and fling it around a bit. Or watch this video: http://www.bubblegoose.com/VideoArchive/videos/catinfan.wmv

A ship 1000 miles from water

Fred, Yeah, I was having trouble imagining how you were able to surf the web from a 286. That's why I asked. I was beginning to wonder if I was missing something! Of course, I remember when it was cool to have a 286...

    UP derailment in Houston

That's not too far from where I live. I think that a picture of this bridge appeared in an issue of Model Railroader a year or two ago (it was a bridge on or near that line, at any rate). I dug through my collection, but couldn't find it...must've thrown it away...:( Anyway, the bridge is...

    Gluing metal to wood??

I once accidentally glued three fingers and the thumb of my left hand all together when I squeezed a tube of CA too hard. Fortunately, acetone-based nail polish remover dissolved the glue pretty easily. I've read about a new type of adhesive called Cyanopoxy that purportedly glues nearly...
