    Bachmann conversion to a 4-8-2 U1e

Just finished bashing the new N scale Bachmann Mountain into something that resembles what ran on the rails in Canada.

    Steamers

I have two of these mountains on their way to me. I must say they look fantastic. I can only hope that mine run as well as yours. From the net talk it appears as if they are not all created equal. However knowing that one runs well leads me to believe that they can all be made to run fine...

    Scatch built paint scheme

Thanks Jon I've been here(+3 other boards) since the Atlas board has been down. All of these boards offer something just slightly different, but it sure is time consuming posting to three.

    Scatch built paint scheme

My freelanced N scale railroad has just got its first boxcar. Decals were done on my laser jet printed on Testers clear decal paper. The paint scheme allows the decals to be all black to simplify the process The next picture shows a road freight with an express reefer in tow

    New F40!!!!!

More specific OK Many of you may not know that Lifelike redesigned almost all of their old chassis's. Gone are the springs and lead weights that used to be used in their plastic chassis. The BL-2 is an example of this. These new drives have a split frame chassis and flywheels, along...

    New F40!!!!!

Well Kind of. You just have to accept the BL-2 shell along with it.

    New F40!!!!!

I have wired in a decoder and have this chassis running under an F9 with no problems. This LL F-40 shell fits perfectly on the chassis. All I had to do was remove a bump on the inside of the plastic Lifelike shell to have the shell fit flush at the chassis sill.

    Ballasting Turnouts

This is exactly what you want. Most Loco yards have little but the rails showing and that is what I was trying to capture. I strongly endorse tile grout for this purpose. It is extremely cheap as well.

    New F40!!!!!

OK, I have heard many requests for a new F40 and when my new BL-2 Mechanism showed up I just had to try something Check out the pictures Now this project has little interest for me as it far too modern. I will be using this chassis under an F9. However I just had to plant the...

    Ballasting Turnouts

Very Nice work Gavin. I use a really unusual method of ballasting track, that works especially well for yard areas. Tile grout, mixed with a 30% fine sand ballast, is mixed into a paste. I spread this with a rubber trowel and use a gloved finger to push it and spread it around the ties...

    New rail checker

????? Not sure how to take this thread. I pesonally like the loco's that can't find the problems!!!!!!. When the Kato F3 first came out years ago, that is one of the things I loved about them. They seemed to make my trackwork better. If I need to find track trouble, all I need to do is...

    Scratch built Shay

I picked up four sets of the Kato RDCs when Caboose hobbies was clearing them out for $33.00 a set. When they arrived I took one set apart to see whart made them tick. The $33.00 price tag allows a person to get brave and the price made me look at them as a parts souce for other projects...
