Revell Fan's BSG Raptor, desert scheme

O yeah? Challenge accepted: My son and me at his 3rd birthday party. We think he thought Boba Fett came to his party. :-) My frist steampunk costume. I won Best Men's costume. I think that it was my explanation as to why I should win it "Mrrr hrrrgr ruhrhrh grr mrrffrhrr . . . " After...

    Making a Canopy

In the past I tried using clear plastic bottles and had the same problem- the plastic distorted and cooled too fast. But I ofund a tutorial that showed how to do it successfully. The other week I found and downloaded a 32 page booklet on how to build a modeling vac former from either here at...

    Building: U.S.S. Wanderer Class

@Revell-Fan- why, you're just a "young un" (western slang for young one)! I saw it shortly before my 12th birthday. But you are right- it's only a number. What matters is how you feel, and how active you are in mind and body. And as Rogerio says, when you've got a couple of young children...

    Star Wars: Episode VII

Also take into account that Lucas was inspired by and in essence reproducing the episodic serials of his youth. Back then "installment" and "episode" were pretty much used interchangeably.

    My first model.

I use watercolors paints and a very small brush. Since you are only coloring a very, VERY small area, you don't need much paint. I literally only add a drop or two of water to the paint for several pieces. You can also custom mix colors to better match your surface color, as well as adding a bit...

    In need of help

@ Zathros- according to the photo source it was launched later that same day- although as you pointed out at the time of the pic many plates are still held on with bolts!

    In need of help

This is exactly what I hope to accomplish. Apparently Schreiber-Bogen uses it on some of their models with quite a bit of success. Ther's a build on the other forum of a Binnenschiff (Barge) that is quite lovely. The bottom of the hull is quite smooth and the seams all but invisible. I figure...

    In need of help

@Zathros- The finished upscale will be just over 52"- Yep, you heard right- 4 feet 4 inches long (132.96cm) I am making extensive use of Photoshop and Illustrator. In the past I've created custom print sizes of various oddball lengths (18", 37", etc), so that's not the problem, but many...

    In need of help

Actually I'm upscaling the USS Ward DD139, laid down May 1918. One of its fellow Wilkes class battleships (HMS Montgomery by that time) had a run in with U96 of Das Boot fame. In real life Lothar G. Bucheim (the author of Das Boot) was a photographer on U-96 at the time of the run in and...

    In need of help

One of my many projects is an upscale and probable repaint of GPM's USS Ward from 1/200 to 1/72. Because of the size difference and the fact that this will be my first ship I am hesitant to use the usual method of using large flat colored "bands" ofr the hull. So- I am adding the rivited shell...

    Aliens POWER LOADER 31,5 inches

Nice upscale! Where did this model come from? Is it your design or another's?

    Boeing Model 307 Stratoliner

Ditto that Zathros. The nose on this is incomparable. I wonder how large this beast is for the nose to look so smooth.

    Waterproofing

Another thought is decoupage paste. But then again, depending on the manufacturer, it is really only thickened PVA. I have successfully used decoupage paste on inkjet printed paper. This might work well if you use a heavy card stock, then reinforce with an added layer of card stock cut slightly...

    About parts on 3d printer

I am going on the assumption that you mean that the printer will be using PLA (Poly Lactic Acid) as the printing medium as opposed to Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), or Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), both common in home 3d printers such as the Reprap and Makerbot series. per this website...

    BSG MedEvac Raptor.

Hmmm . ..fold lines highlighted as if reflecting light. Maybe printed on acetate or mylar. Printed on a transparency film? Not sure to what end this would be done but . . . . . . unless to insert a light inside for a MedEvac Raptor nightlight. Now THERE's an idea!

    BSG MedEvac Raptor.

The only reason to print backwards that I can come up with is 1) you are making an iron on T-shirt of the parts of a MedEvac Raptor, or 2) detailing an interior that would be painted just like the exterior with the same contours etc. But this doesn't make sense to me as the interior would be...

USS Selfridge DD 357 1/200 Scale

I think that I'll have to try this with my u-boat and Montgomery. Should make skinning much, much less painful and more likely to avoid the ribbing. Hmmmmm . . . . ribbing in WWI planes = good. Ribbing in ships and submarines = bad.
