    Halo Spartan WIP

Depending on how cheap you want to go, you could use baking parchment paper. It is translucent enough that you can use it to trace, but can withstand a few hundred degrees without browning. vbsargent

1/72 starfighters (or, what I've been up to lately)

Nice! Love the scale! You can get enough detail on to look good, but it's small enough that you can make a decent sized ship without taking up an entire room. Hmmm . . . speaking of which I really need to continue on the Serenity test build for Mirco over on papermodelers. So far it is a...

    Halo Spartan WIP

Yeah, you could say that. Had a Mandelorian inspired rig years ago, had to adjust it so I could breath cooler fresher air every hour or so.They get really, REALLY hot. And that's just walking around in an air conditioned hotel, outside is worse- and I can't imagine on a set with filming lights...

    Kooklic Type VIIC/41 with torpedoes!

Well, since I am basically doing an enlarge/repaint of a GPM model, I won't be posting all the pieces or artwork. I may have to include a watermark on anything else that I post, just to keep on the up and up. Don't want anybody thinking that I'm trying to pull a fast one. :p Just to give you...

    Kooklic Type VIIC/41 with torpedoes!

Another update to the Wickes Well, the U-boat is on hold until I get together with my brother again, so it's onward and upward with the destroyer. I'm pretty happy with my progress on the upper hull skins. I've got some nice textures and a little bit of weathering discoloration, but no rust...

    Kooklic Type VIIC/41 with torpedoes!

Update Well this isn't the uboot, but it's opposition. Since I'm soring on the U-boot, I figured that I'd also do a destroyer. Looking at the records of U96 it seems that she narrowly escaped a run in with a Wickes class destroyer in 1941 (in fact it was the former USS Wickes herself). So I...

    UHU02 X Wing

@dnalor- see what I mean about comparing him to imcold? Just like comparing Rembrandt and da Vinci, or Michelangelo. vbsargent

PBY Catalina Consolidatrd Vultee Flying Boat

I agree with Bhelliom, it looks pretty darn good to me. I use an inexpensive set of watercolors that I got at the craft store, or Walmart, I can't remember which. It has 36 different colors, and you can mix these within a hair of pretty much anything. I use a 10x0 brush that allows me to be very...

Amazing model of IL 18 passenger 1:50

Oddly enough Orlik's online shop carries a bunch of other publishers including GPM. They sell this plane for $27.13 plus shipping. The shipping is what will get you, but you can reduce the damage by ordering several kits at once to defray the costs. BTW-their shipping cost estimator is a...

    Building: Imperial Star Destroyer "Imperator"

Comparing UHU02 and IMCold X-wings . . . Hmm this is kinda like comparing paintings by Rembrandt and Leonardo da Vinci. Which is a better painting? Well, that all depends youngling- are you looking for something that is beautiful in it's simplicity, that just plain feels like it's been in...

    The Student & Teacher

@ Experimental Designs- Umm . . . . I don't recall anyone *on this topic* being disrespectful to any religions or religious views. Nor do I recall Spartacus nor myself using the term "trogladite." There was no beligerence in Spartacus' post. Just because you have encountered some of the...

    The Student & Teacher

I'm kinda with Spartacus on this one. I believe the belligerence was "This one made my day and something else to share with athiests to make them fluster. Heheh." Or in the very least condescension. While I do find the story charming, I think the point of the story is actually to RESPECT...

Model-making is not for the weak

Not too many scars, but whoowee, I don't know how many times I've sliced my fingers open. Making sword scabbards, cutting down matt board, cutting matts, cutting art paper to size, framing artwork . . . . and oh yeah- creating a 3d miniature of a museum display out of foam core under a deadline...

Revell Fan's BSG Raptor, desert scheme

Sounds like we're birds of a feather! While I never did get a chance to learn Kendo:-(, I did teach beginner fencing for 7 years. And I never got kicked out of a Renfest, but they did prevent me from going in with my broadsword. (But it matched my steel chainmail so WELL!) And though I've made...
