TESTING an alterative to Tortoise switch machines

The agent didn't have a price when he gave me the servo's but I will call him and see if he has one now. I have put the first post on the H.O. forum and I see it is already in the General one Dennis

TESTING an alterative to Tortoise switch machines

Rogerw....You are correct. The servo's will work on H.O. as well as N Scale because the horns can be adjusted through the Smart Switch Circuit Board to move more distance which would be needed for H.O. My train club have had trouble with Tortoise machines ripping out the throw bars of the...

    Atlas Switch problems

Before doing any filing check out the locos wheels with a wheel gauge. When you say that the engine derails and not the cars I would guess that your engine wheels are out of gauge.

TESTING an alterative to Tortoise switch machines

I was handed a set of switch machine servo's by an agent of a new product. He asked me if I would like to install them into my N Scale layout and test them. The name of the product is "ANE model". I installed the four servo's under the switch points of my Shinohara Sissors Crossover and now have...

    Dcc

First thing is to make sure your engine is decoder ready. Not all engines will accept or have space for one. Make sure you buy the correct decoder for your engine and check inside the package for the detailed instructions. It's not too difficult. Dennis

    Stewart 25 ton yard crane.

I started to build a 25 Ton Yard Crane kit made by Stewart Products in N Scale but the instructions leave a lot to be desired. Does anyone own one of these and if so would they let me have a detailed photo of their model. I have the boom made and I can figure out the cab and body but the rigging...

sectional track popped out of rail joiner how to fix?

Rail Joiner easist way to fix this problem is to slide the rail joiner out completely then solder the outside of the joint of the two rails making sure that the rails are level while you do the soldering. (A one minute job).

any advice on nailing track to cork roadbed on 5/8 plywood

Track Laying Quote..... I'm using atlas N/HO nails. I have a feeling that I may destroy my track. I'd like to try using nails. Any advice? I've been using a small hammer and a punch but that does not guarantee I'll pound the nails straight? I may end up gluing, but it becomes a hassle at...

Con Cor U-50 second hand price?

U50 by Con Cor I own a Con Cor U50 and it is a very nice engine but I would say $100.00 is way too high of a price. The engines are at least a dozen years old so I would offer no more than $50.00 for a used one...Maybe even less.

    My layout progress

Walthers Cornerstone Kit. Searched the local Hobby shops and came up with a Walthers Cornerstone kit building that will fit into the end of my docks as a Shipping/ Receiving warehouse. For the bricked in area, I made a very thin mix of some Orange with a little Brown. The area will be known...

Wiring old Shinohara turnouts for dcc?

Denyons--Fred's description is right on. Some specific visual cues: the newer versions (the "DCC Friendly" ones) have visible (from the bottom of the turnout) jumpers connecting the appropriate rails; the newer ones have very visible plastic breaks in the rail isolating the frog, and they also...

Shinohara turnouts I have 3 Shinohara turnouts on my own layout and plan on going DCC. What is the differance between Old and New Shinohara turnouts? I am using a Wye, a 3 way Wye and a sissors xover. Do you have photos of Old vs New?

More Help For The N Scale n00b, Please

The majority of my Peco turnouts are #6 or Medium length but you will notice on the photo of the yard entrance (Half cork) that I have a Shinohara 3 way Wye followed by a Peco 2 way Wye. All my track work is done with Atlas Code 80 Flex Track. I did use one more Shinohara turnout and it is a...
