    Steam train 136mph!?

Being a Brit. I know all about this one. I see you put 60103 but Mallard's number was 60022 and you are correct that the speed record for a steamer is just over 126mph. That record still stands today. You can see the class A4 Mallard in the fantastic National Railway Museum in York, England. I...

Welcome Martin I am sure you will get some good advice but you will need to give some more info. 6x2 is not large enough to do 3 levels if I am reading you right. For 3 levels you would need helixes and the grades would be way too steep on a small layout. Dennis

    Using paper towels

Paper towels work fine...That's all I used to make the shell for my mountains. I Mixed up the plaster quite thin and then after the hard shell had dried I applied my rubber rock moulds filled with plaster. Dennis

    Track cleaning????

Track Cleaning I took some advice from a thread of a few months ago and bought some NO-OX and I haven't cleaned my track for 3 months now. It is an Anti-Oxident grease and it should be used very sparingly. A thimble full will do a large layout. I spread a small amount of No-Ox onto the pad of...

Looking great Hi Mike, I'm impressed. Would love to drop in on you in April during the big show in Calgary. My club guys got over to see your buddy, Grant Eastman, at last years show and his layout is amazing too. Still working, (slow but sure), on my own layout. I guess I should try to update...

n scale boats, barges, lock gates.

Lock Gates You may find what you are looking for in the Langley models web site. It is in the UK and they have canal boats and lock gates. I have a few canal barges myself. They are moulded and have to be painted. My own ship were made for me by a friend. Dennis

New TCS Decoder for older locos

I have just purchased the latest TCS 1278 Decoder which will fit into our older analog engines. It is in two parts and fits into each end of the frame where the old light boards are. Now we don't have to send our older engines away to be milled at $15.00 each which also loses some weight. It...

TESTING an alterative to Tortoise switch machines

Spoke to the agent and he told me that the prices are on the website. Click on PRICE on the left side of the page. By the way the set I tested is equipped to operate the switches from your DCC keypad also, if you so desire. Dennis

    Atlas Switch problems

You can spead the wheels of a loco but be very careful. Slip a thin blade knife between a wheel and the loco frame and gently try to prise it. Keep checking the guage as you are doing it, because you don't want to over gauge the wheels. Dennis
