    Model RR Shows

Collyn, Had to look up Canon City on the map! Your photos were excellent! I remember seeing the canyon some years ago on a driving vacation. We plan to move to Eagle, CO when we get our place here sold. The new place has a basement and that is my target for a HO layout.

Ed, I looked at the Trains.com site and found no shows listed for this area. Sigh.

I have some vague feel for which type and style of cars and locos were used when and where, but is there an economical and brief book on the subject?

For those in SoCA, there is a special train exhibit at the Nixon Library in Yorba Linda, CA featuring many displays in all popular gauges. Includes the live steam engine from Walt Disney's backyard layout and many rare train toys. Started yesterday and continuing through 1/7/07. Go to...

When we get to our new location, I will have to do a lot of experimenting, I guess. But have to build the basement rooms first!

    Track Bed

Thanks, guys. I haven't used Homasote in so long I have forgotten its properties. Sounds like a winner for model RR use. That cork link was interesting. It is amazing how much I learn from each diversion, but then I have a lot to learn!:D

    Track Bed

Newbie here, obviously. Trying out the site as much as anything this time. My only experience with HO gauge is a simple oval under a Christmas tree, a Bachmann set I bought at ACE Hardware. I fastened it down to a 1/2" plywood base. But that was some time ago. No layout as yet - still a dream...
