    Modular Forum

Well I voted "NO" because I have enough to do on my own layout. However if there was a Modular forum, yes I would look and read and maybe even post some times. Cheers

    I hate this week.

Hi Michael I know the feeling also, no fun. I'm guessing you are on a septic system If so I can recomend a decent product for you to use. After a lot of problems 19 years ago I put in a new tank and have been using a product called " Septal " . In those 19 years there has been no need to pump...

    Old FA shells

Hi David, that's good advice from Brian. I have two of the Lional FA's hardly ever run and not likely to be used in the future. I also have a couple of old Athearn F' units that I will use to power the shells. Since I have the parts from days gone by, I'll be doing the kitbash, however if I had...

    Do You Like Steam

Yep pretty nice photos too, certainly has a good point in that it's all steam, so you don't have to sort through a zillion diesel photos to find a photo of a steamer. Cheers Willis

    Water front railroading

Hi Neil, well it's 1/90 which is close enough for me. its a Lindberg Classic model of a North Sea Trawler. It's plastic and not hard to assemble, however I don't have the time to modify it as it would be for the National Sea Atlantic fleet. The Lindberg line has a diesel Tug boat 1/87 and a Tuna...

It's Monday 3-21-05, Weekend modeling accomplishments

Well I'm still at the wood support, styrofoam, mud and plaster stage, I guess I will for a long while yet :D The bridge overpass go's to the coal mine and the underpass is the mainline exit to the staging loops. The other rockwork is where I'm trying make a boring wall look a bit interesting...

    Old FA shells

Ah! the trucks yes, on the models I'll be doing the trucks will be much different. The FA's used around here were built in Montreal (MLW's) and were different again. I have to do some research on this but that's some time in the future. What I do with the Athearn trucks is to saw the details off...

    Old FA shells

Well it's a tight fit but it does fit, attached photos. One observation the Athearn trucks look a lot better than the Lionel trucks. There are other issues such as securing the body to the Athearn frame, fuel tank details, coupler ect. but it can be done. The best I have above the Christmas...

    Old FA shells

I have a couple of those HO FA Lionels, Ive tried one of the shells on an Athearn F7 ( Blue Box) and it seems like a usable fit. If you are willing to do a little adjustment it will work. I can check the fit again if you'd like, anyway that is my plans for the Lionel shell.Cheers Willis

    Water front railroading

Hi Chris, LOL I don't know much about it either, maybe that's why I'm attracted to it. The scene I'm trying to depict is what I can remember of a fishing village in the 50's, but I'm sure the dock and the fish plant I remember were a lot better constructed than what I put together. When it's...
