    Cabdriver Railfan

    great shots cabdriver! we are going to be down there in SA for the train show on saturday, if all works out. where is the best place to railfan from, like that train yard in these pictures? hopefully somewhere on the north side where we will be. thanks.

    Its Monday 4-04-05, Weekend modeling accomplishments

    in between yard work(weather was perfect) I added six inches to the layout to fit more scenery on. now we have a 4'X8'6". movin' on up:D put down some white styrofoam on the new addition and painted on a base coat last night. ground cover and tress are next, hopefully tonight.

    trees

    Jon, what type of paint do you use on the foam you have the trees in? I need to paint foam for our layout and am curious. thanks, john EDIT TO ADD: nice trees, I need to get back to work on more trees for our layout. also I painted some stryrofoam today with some flat interior acrylic paint...

    It's FRIDAY 3-18-05, weekend modeling plans!

    finally garage sale day, gonna take what doesn't sale to goodwill and then have more room to work on the layout. we need to get started on the backdrop and start on a barn and silo. fun fun... mom should be coming in which the boys will like. great weekend ahead. take care everyone.

    http://toweroftheamericas.com/ .... and when I said eat, eat, eat, I meant there are alot of good resturants down on the river walk, the tower has a resturant also. Take in the Alamo before you do an IMAX movie, it's worth it. But you are able to do both in one afternoon.

    of course San Antonio has the river walk downtown, remember the alamo, also a great zoo. Sea world too, but you probably have been to those already. SA's downtown area is real family friendly and is why we run down there. park in the river center mall parking garage and hang out downtown all...

    progress pics

    the silos are thick cardboard rollers that I cut down to size. the thickness made it easy to glue the caps on top which are cut out from cereal box. I did cover the side of the silos with brown paper bag to cover seam on them. thanks guys

    both tracks we are looking at are main lines that I know of, the cross track after the switch goes through the industry off to the left of the image and would lead to the second picture I posted of the plant.

    still need some work on paint and detail but here's the work in progress. I have a new found respect for you that scratch build all the amazing scenes I see on here. I have not the time nor the patients to tackle the projects I see on here. I look forward to doing it right(layout that is) next...
