    Wheels

Bob, The 3 on one track pick up current from that rail. The other 3 pick up current from the other rail. Wipers of some sort are required to access the current from the wheels or metal axles to the light circuitry. Plus or minus from track current makes no difference to a light bulb. It will...

    Wheels

Yep Bob, you are correct ! However it is best to have at least 2 metal wheels on opposite sides of each truck on each car to help eliminate flickering of the lights while going over crossings and turnouts. Wipers would be applied to pick up the current from either the wheels or axles . Joe

    Tortoise & Bicolor LED Wiring

Kris, I accumulated some .125 Sheet aluminum while I was working (now retired). It was already painted black. After applying white drafting tape, drilling the appropriate holes for toggles, pushbuttons, rotary switches and LEDs, I had a hard time distinguishing my different blocks, hence the...

    Tortoise & Bicolor LED Wiring

Kris, Your original drawing is exactly how I have about 20 Tortoise machines wired with LEDs in my control panels on my layout. Had I had any bi-color LEDs at the time I would have used them in place of the red & green ones. I mount a double throw toggle switch with a red on one side and the...

    GB Electronics Turnout motor

Cid, You are " da-man ". Your drawing is correct other than the second trace from the left goes straight up thru to the top one. I love the quality of the drawing. What program did you use to draw it ? I got these six boards for a mere pittance on E-bay so thanks to you I can now use them on a...

    GB Electronics Turnout motor

Does anyone have the schemactics to wire this motored module. I'm not sure how far back in time they go, but they are certainly vintage ! Manufactured by GB Electronics of Colorado. They were designed to physically through a turnout and as well change the circuitry for signals, panel lights...

    Lighting Question

Frank, I think you might be disappointed lighting a building with LEDs. They show the majority of the light they shed straight on ( great for Headlights and such ). Bulbs will do much better and not needing resistors are much easier to wire. They don't have the longevity that LEDs do but I...

    Power for Turnouts

Jodam, The Atlas machines will operate fairly good on any spare powerpacks 16 Volt AC terminal as long as it is applied momentarily as stated. However there are several Manufacturers that make a " Snapper circuit " that applies 35 Volts DC but through the circuitry it only applies it as a...
