    How did that happen?

I think the huge smile one my face as I told my wife that I could use the foam somewhere else kinda gave my whole ploy away. I hope to get layout base materials when I calculate what I'll need to do the framing in the basement ;)

    How did that happen?

While purchasing renovation materials for the new house I somehow ended up with about 10 extra sheets of 1" foam board insulation and some 1/2" plywood sheets. "Gee dear, I don't know how my calculations could have been so off" :D I don't think I fooled her for a second.

CP Rail GP9u Step by Step :)

Awesome! Thanks for sharing, I'll definitely use it as a reference if and when I get around to making one. I'll need at least one for the Sudbury yard goat...

    Proto photo: Consumer's Glass

It looks like it to me - right at Clark and the 410. I've ever only seen them switch it once. There is/was also a bunch of old 40' boxcars sitting along the 410 side of the building. I could never figure out what they were doing there.

What's the deal with CP 7009?

Yeah, she's a TM. I think I recall hearing on the CPR newsgroup that she's owned by a private collector, but was being restored by CP.

    CP GP9's with video cameras?

I think it might be to assist with remote control operation? I seem to recall reading something last week about CP trying out a new system in yards to help in putting trains together...

    NMRA Toronto Show

Damn, I feel like I'm passing up the opportunity of a lifetime here missing the NMRA convention. Just too much stuff happening right now to get around to the trains. Hope everyone is enjoying the convention, and our beautiful city.

Another hobby shop bites the dust

Toronto gets a new LHS? Hornet hobbies is located on O'Connor Drive, between Bermondsey and Eglinton and has been open for about two months now apparently. I was driving along with the wife when I happened to notice it there - pretty much slammed on the brakes and swerved into the lot...

Another hobby shop bites the dust

Collector's Lane (Markham and Ellesmere) has started moving into trains more - their stock is more "newbie" type stuff, but they do have a good range of Woodlands Scenics stuff and a good selection of scratchbuilding materials/paints. etc. Definitely not as many LHS's out there as there used...

Another hobby shop bites the dust

I like Panther - they have a really good selection of N stuff. And I also like being able to browse through the military models as well. I just can't stand the fact that the owners/employees smoke in the store. Turns me right off (sorry smokers). Credit Valley is my usual destination, but...

    Packing up the trains...temporarily

Re: Big Lay Out a coming We're going to be at Warden Ave. and Kingston Rd., NE quadrant. I'd like to go to the Toronto show, but may have to go up to Sudbury that weekend... 60103 - we have 6' ceilings in the basement, which is okay, but a little awkward (I'm 5'10"). The stairs come...

    Packing up the trains...temporarily

Thanks everyone - our offer has been accepted. I just have to get the financing in order, and we're all set. The wife has already agreed to a nice-sized train room in the basment:D Just have to work out the details...probably looking at 12'x10'. Good thing I'm in N gauge!
